I don't know who Gilberto Manzano is, but the guy is a complete f**king moron. Yeah you can just label a guy a bust when he hasn't played a single f**king down in an actual NFL game or even gone to rookie mini camp for that matter. He s**ts on the guy for not having a "breakout" junior season because of an ankle injury. Yeah, totally ignore the fact he played most of the season through a high ankle sprain which actually makes way more of a case he's not a bust, what an absolute dips**t.

I can't speak to David Bonilla's role, but the column he oversees seems designed to aggregate articles from all of the main 49er sources, which is useful if you want to see what people around the league are saying without having to look in a bunch of different places.

I agree, it's just clickbait crap now. Nothing insightful or based on real evidence - just meant to get people upset.
David Lombardi can be really optimistic about everything, which is better than someone panning everything, but he does tend to at least show data to support his take.
im someone that likes to look at some film and also some stats to form my own opinion. SI doesn't offer that these days.

The more film you see of Williams, the more you notice two things. One, he spent a lot of time aligned in a DT role in the Georgia defense. They played him inside the tackles a lot with Jalon Walker getting to line up wide. Second, even when Williams is lined up outside, he was not attacking the edge much at all. He looked like he was there to set the edge and react more than attacking the edge. Once Kocurek gets him coached up and he's lined up wide more often, we may see better results.

I feel confident in saying that Mykel is either gonna be an absolute stud cornerstone player or a 10 year "JAG" - no in between. He won't be a "bust" he just might not be worth a first rd pick if he lands at his floor. That's the benefit of being elite against the run, it projects well but just not a rare / overly valued trait.

That's why I comp his impact more along the Justin Smith route - I'm not saying they'll look the same but that their impact will be bigger than the stat sheet.
the more I've looked in Williams - the more excited I am for him to make our defense a force. He'll greatly benefit from having bosa on the other side too.
