Bosa was a no brainer. Lynch has missed on quite a bit. Anyone else would be fired from their job based on the above. We shall see about williams, but lynch does not deserve anyone's trust at this point.

How was McGlinchey a bad pick? He got a massive contract from another team. I also won't hold their very first picks against them because everyone was still learning on the job with little experience running a draft. They've grown a ton since their first year and I don't think that Lance pick ever happens if the country wasn't going through turmoil and screwed up the entire draft. The only pick that was a complete reach was Kinlaw, and he just signed a big contract with a contender.

Y'all criticize this front office draft selections way too much.

Lol

Kinlaw got a massive contract too, so how was he a bad pick if that's the criteria?

They're hoping they're right so bad.

The lack of production was a little about the injury but mostly about Georgia being stacked on the Dline so they had a rotation which limited his snaps. I like the pick!

Not only the limited snaps, but Georgia isnt setting him up for production. They are trying to win football games. Mykels playing 4i, 4, 2 at times. Some 5. Some 7. Never 9. They often ask him to contain rush, or to take on double inside as they blitz LB or play QB spy. He does the dirty work for others. Its a very balanced approach. Georgia sack leader in 2024 has 6 sacks and plays LB, 2023 was 5 playing LB, 2022 was 4.5, 2021 - 6.5, 2020 - 8.5 playing LB, 2019 - 5.5 playing LB, 2018 - 7.5 playing LB, 2017 - 6.5 playing LB, 2016 - 3 guys tied at 5 and 2 are LB, 2015 - 4.5 playing LB. 2014 - 6 playing LB.

School that puts Jalen Carter, Travon Walker, Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, Leonard Floyd, Azeez Ojulari, Roquan Smith, etc in the league and nobody has more than 8.5 sacks. Most years around 5 or 6? These guys come into the league and get more sacks than they ever did in college. This isnt a program where an elite edge goes to get 14 sacks a year. Doesnt happen and they are dumping talent into the league.

Mykel knows. He was asked whats playing in the wide 9 going to be league and he was grinning like a little kid on Christmas.
And lets not forget that Bosa seems to enjoy teaching guys.... this could be the other side we have desperately needed. The draft is always aa crap shoot but saying this is a horrible pick is just pessimism at its finest

What's even funnier is they all worshipped the Chiefs' pick. You know, the guy who has major injury concerns and the same people would crap all over Lynch if we drafted him ourselves lol

Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't know the sack totals have been that low for Georgia guys.

Something else that i know played a major factor is he's also very well liked in the locker room and was considered their leader. I know Lynch and Kyle are big into that.

you have great posts, scooter. yes they are known for their 'positionless' defense. they have dawgs, no pun intended. these are the fastest, most traited out prep players in the country that get into georgia. georgia now is what bama used to be, in terms of the talent. the pipleline from georgia to the nfl has been insane. eagles got a lot of those guys as you mention, and they overwhelmed kc. this guy is the next in the line it seems. he was a national DPOY.

They're not real 9ers fans they just get off being saying I told you so and crying about everything this team does.

That's what he needs most. To improve his hand use and develop some more pass rush moves. Working with Bosa could be a major boost for him.

A nice thing about Mykell is that his go-to rush moves are the same moves that Bosa is arguably the best at(double swipe) and extremely proficient in(long arm, bullrush). Bosa is going to be able to hit the ground running with Mykell and help him refine his setups, polish his hand technique and help him learn how to position his body to finish. This isn't a dude that doesn't have a clue what he's doing. There's a base there that needs to be further enhanced and refined.

Yeah, there is some of them around. If anyone has any doubts about Mykel, by the way, I am just watching Jonnydel's podcast on the player. Jonny loves the pick!
At first I really didn't like this pick. In fact, I hated it. I felt that he's fools gold, Robert Beal 2.0 but a better run defender. After sleeping on it and considering what Robert Salah want's to do ("earn the right to rush the passer") I understand this pick. Williams is the best EDGE run defender. Salah emphasizes stopping the run first. I think Salah will use him like he used Armstead. And, I think Shanny & Co. are banking on Kocurek to be able to coach him up to develop pass rush moves and better techniques. I see Williams being used more as the "Big end" on the strong side. This will free Bosa up a bit.

So after sleeping on this I have more faith in the pick. I still have my worries, but I understand the pick. Now, we need to get 2 starting DT's. If we do I'll be happy.

I like that John Lynch tried to trade up to get him. This pick really doesn't sound like it was a backup plan or plan B. This is the guy our FO really wanted and we lucked out and got him.

Why is that a good thing? They also wanted Ruben foster.

The good news is that they got who they wanted.

The bad news also is they got who they wanted.

If Reuben Foster had the type of intangibles that Mykel Williams does he'd still be on the 49ers and playing top level football.

Keep seeing people saying Williams was a plan B

We ran our pick to the podium
News today is we even tried to trade up
Reports are our defensive coaching staff absolutely love this guy (Kocurek and Saleh)

We don't know how it pans out down the road but we 100% got a top selection from our internal draft board

lol aint that the truth. I think the pick was announced sooner than I've ever seen. Feels like it was with at least 5 minutes left on the clock when I saw it announced at first which means we made the pick even sooner.
