Man, re-watching the week 1 run defense with Mykel Williams in the lineup is night and day difference. Those Seattle tight ends were getting no push at the point of attack and got bullied by him on a few reps. These same tight ends that you can see in the defensive line thread throwing Sam O, Keion White, YGM and Clelin Ferrell around a few days ago.

88 was killing the Niners' ends on Saturday

He says he should be back week 1. Bosa, Williams, Stout, Collins, White, Davis, Huff etc and some new pass rushing rotational pieces will be night and day.
I'm hoping the injury doesn't stifle his development. I think he could become a great all round edge for us, but as much as being a great against the run helps us, if he can't pressure the QB he wasn't worth the 11th pick in the draft.

I'm confident he will be able to generate pass rush at least rushing from the inside.

Hope you're right
I went back and watched his highlights from this season. Future is bright. He is a load as an edge-setter and inside rusher. Incredibly violent. Needs to work on his get-off, though. He's often the last DL to move after the ball is snapped.

This. Guy is definitely very violent & can throw guys around with ease. Excited for his future

That will improve with reps.

IIRC, lamented after his injury that he was just beginning to play without worrying about the specifics of his assignment.

Not a guarantee, but likely. And yes, he said that today.

Yup, he was a beast against the run. Losing Bosa was insane, but they handled that OK. Once they lost Mykel it was too much.
