Yea. He's definitely worth a 1st round pick after this performance.

Mac has a little swagger. He's used to being the guy. Certainly at Alabama and the 1st round draft status. He is loved and accepted by his team. You see how they react around him. I like having him on the team.

Anything that happens with mac is a win win as far as im concerned. If he stays we get to the playoffs again for peanuts. If we trade him for a first or more we get a chance at a good player. Win win.

Yeah he's hilarious. I think he will be missed by his mates if he goes. Nothing wrong at all with Brock and his religious beliefs but I bet the squad wished he could be around for a Cabo outing and Tequila every now and then. I don't think that will ever happen. Not his vibe.
Probably the biggest test for retaining Jones will be pre- or early season when a good team inevitably loses its QB. Then, good and available QBs become gold (1st round 2027 might be offered).

No good team will offer a future 1st round pick for one season rental of Mac Jones, after their qb goes down.

All you have to do is think from that teams perspective.

Niners are still a good team. Let's say they don't have Mac Jones and instead have Josh Dobbs as backup.
Purdy is out for the season in the second game.
Are you trading next year's first for 15 games of Mac?
I would keep him because I think there is a chance his value would increase during the 2026 season when a contending team loses their QB to an injury.

Yes because we have playoff possibilities. If the team is a tank team obviously no.

thats pure insanity. last time this happened anything of the sort happened was when sam bradford was traded to the vikings after birdgewater got injured. bradford was the starter for many years and former first overall pick prior to that.

it was a failure of a trade for vikings, as they didnt make the playoffs with bradford as starter. next year they made the playoffs with case keenum, a cheap journeyman backup
I think a lot of teams will look to Malik Willis over Mac if we are asking for a 1st rounder

I think a lot of teams were gonna do that anyways. One is a free agent and the other isn't. I also think there are teams where half a season of good QB play doesn't completely change their previous opinion on Mac and may like Malik better

If anyone offers a first round pick for Jones Lynch should take it and send a years supply of sourdough and Napa valley wine with it. Jones is a nice security blanket but he only helps if Purdy gets injured. Even then we can't be assured he'll play as well if he's needed again. The Niners schedule is slated to be a little tougher this season.

Yup. I find it funny how people think it's some sure thing that we would get a 3rd round comp pick for him if he stays with us this season and then leaves in FA next year. So much can happen between now and then. His value is at its highest right now IMO
I still feel like the Dolphins will trade for Mac.
.1 Dolphins salary cap is rough with little wiggle room plus Mac's salary makes this doable imo
.2 Mac's from Florida
.3 Dolphins have 3 picks in the 3rd round which allows them to overpay and save face by not giving up a top 50 pick

You also only get a 3rd round pick if you aren't signing as many comparable FAs.

You can take the "if" out of "if purdy gets injured." I think we can rely on jones to outperform in kyles offense. Its built for mac. And he loves playing in it and kyle loves having a qb who's totally happy to check down all the options he's designed. Everyone gets injured behind this line even mac did mess up his knee. So that's a given.
