Alex was proven? He had 1 good year in 6 seasons.
And i think you severely under estimate what a team will give up for a starting QB.
39yr old Rodgers, pick 15 and a 5th went for the 13th pick, 2nd round, 6th round, and a 2nd the next year(that should have been a 1st)
Stafford was two 1st and 3rd plus a starting QB.
Russ got two 1st, two 2nd, 5th.
All for aged out QBs.

Watson, got three 1st, a 3rd, and two 4th, and he was going to be suspended.

Every one of those transactions was a trey lance transaction except for Stafford.
You don't keep a QB because you're afraid your starter might get hurt. If he trading Mac helps the team get an impact player for next year, you do it. Not even a question.

Mac making the media rounds claiming Kyle wanted him over Lance in the infimace draft. If true who talked him out of it?
Mac is on a very, very cheap 1-year deal for a team that potentially trades for him.

I don't think people are accounting for that enough. He's worth at LEAST a 2nd rounder, IMO.
Vikes can have him for Jetta

Honestly, I think Mac is just playing the game — trying to raise his stock and hope someone throws out a trade offer worth considering. With only a year left on a cheap contract, it's smart business. He's probably watching Sam's success after leaving here and thinking he could follow the same path if he gets the right opportunity.

Okay. And what does that have to do with my point?

If a team views a QB as their guy, their is a very high ceiling on ehst they will give up.

That, plus this draft is dogs**t at QB and a good % of the league is running this scheme/and needs a starting QB.

if I'm SF I want a 2nd, if not I'll just hold onto him and get a comp pick a yr from now

To me, the timing couldn't be more perfect for a trade. There will be a number of quality veterans who may not have a chance to start next year.

Plenty of teams need a QB but Mac is easily among the top 3 options.

Raiders
Dolphins
Vikings
Cardinals
Steelers
Jets
Browns
Panthers
Falcons

As far as backups available, you've got...

Russ
Zach Wilson
Cousins
Tua
Wentz
Flacco
Trubisky
Jimmy G (lol I doubt he ever comes back)

But all the above could probably win games for us if we needed them to.

And if you're the Raiders, would Kubiak/Brady willing to trade down, accumulate picks (give up Mendoza) knowing that Mac can run Kubiak's system ala Darnold? Mac Jones is only 27 and they can surround him with weapons or improve his protection from the draft or trade for veterans with the acquired picks. It will also signal to Max Crosby that they're not rebuilding. Give us their 2nd round and a 3rd and we got a deal.

I'm with this train of thought. Our roster is at least 2 offseasons of solid free agency and draft acquisitions away from being in SB contention. No need to go into scared mode about our QB getting hurt when we can make the most of a valuable asset. We can also attract quality backup candidates here given our track record with rehabilitating QB careers.
I think a 2nd and 3rd should be the asking price. They can already get a 3rd for him as a comp pick after this upcoming season. So if they only get a second then they're only gaining one round. A stand alone second with the third to equal what's already coming to them needs to be the ask. Otherwise just keep him this year and take the free third.

Also, they can always sign another reclamation project and they got that kid they drafted last year who is supposed to be promising

Nope. It is multiple 2nds.
An interesting idea is a 2nd this year.
A 2nd next two years, but if he is on the roster on 10th day of the league year, it becomes a 1st. If they transition/franchise him they both become 1st round picks.

If he is not on the roster for 2027 the 2028 2nd becomes a 3rd.
Anyone else read the article posted on here about Baldinger's speculation where Mac could get traded and his idea is Atlanta, which isn't bad. He thinks just one 2nd rounder would do it. Then goes on to speculate who might come in to back up Brock. The first name is Cousins which isn't the worst then he mentions Geno Smith (and I think, f**k no!) which is worse than anything.

Imagine Mac Jones on the Broncos?

They are in a weird situation. Bo Nix was inconsistent late in the season, and he'll be coming back from injury.... but he seems loved out there. They have a Super Bowl winning defense, they just need a QB who can move the ball and lead the team. Loved how Mac was able to lead our team, and save our season, when we had s**t for weapons.
