Don't forget why Mac is so important to us in the first place. Because we play in the NFC West where three of the top five teams in the NFL play. What does that mean? It means that we're probably starting the year two and two or one and three. How many more losses can we take and still make the playoffs? Three or four and we're cutting it close. So we need to win every game we possibly can and not have a stretch where we go 500 against mediocre competition. We have to kill that in order to make the playoffs simply because we're starting the year with two losses essentially. The margin for error is razor thin and Mac came through for us last year. That is why we need a quality number two given that whoever we put back in the pocket is probably going to lose time for one reason or another with our lightweight o-line

To me, the timing couldn't be more perfect for a trade. There will be a number of quality veterans who may not have a chance to start next year.

Plenty of teams need a QB but Mac is easily among the top 3 options.

Raiders
Dolphins
Vikings
Cardinals
Steelers
Jets
Browns
Panthers
Falcons

As far as backups available, you've got...

Russ
Zach Wilson
Cousins
Tua
Wentz
Flacco
Trubisky
Jimmy G (lol I doubt he ever comes back)

But all the above could probably win games for us if we needed them to.
2nd rd pick and he's yours

Or swap picks to move up in the first. This is the ultimate win/win as the team that makes that trade still has a first round pick. Are u listening Miami? Haha.

Sign Cousins to be our backup and trade Mac for a 2nd.
We should get at least a 2nd round pick for Jones or else I would keep him.
Alex Smith deal. A 2 this year and the next

Alex was much more proven. I think it we be like a 3rd and a next years 4th.
2nd round pick or higher and you trade him. We need the picks and we have holes everywhere. This is a rebuild but people don't admit it.

Problem is Shany / Lynch miss on a lot of picks. Would rather have somebody else picking it But we are stuck with them.....

They need a Godfather offer. With such a weak QB class this year they may get one.

I wouldn't want any of those guys, except Jimmy, (and especially not Russ) but I agree there is little incentive for him to come back. As I have said in multiple posts. Until the team knows what it has in Kurtis Rourke, any talk of bringing in a veteran back-up is pre-mature. I certainly understand Mac's desire to be a starter again, but the fact remains he's under contract for one more year at which time he can go out and make any deal he wants. If he wants to sit out and try and force a trade, that's on him, but while he performed well for us, and I'm glad we had him, I'm not sure he proved himself to be the guy who could just step into any system and succeed. Kyle's system plays to his strengths, go through your reads and get the ball out your hands, but he's not a particularly dynamic player,

Conversations with other teams have yet to yield anything substantive. That's fine by me if we keep Mac as a backup for another year.

I think someone will make a suitable offer for Mac at some point.

Someone will offer a 1st or early 2nd, after watching Mac carry us for weeks. Now you also have Sam Darnold winning a superbowl after being thrown away by another AFCE team, so I bet multiple teams are interested. This is just Lynch making sure his demands are met by saying we don't want to move him.

No one will offer a 1st round pick for Mac Jones. 2nd round or 3rd round + sweeteners will likely be the package.

Dolphins
Jets
Browns
Vikings

All look like they would be in the mix pressing hard for Mac Jones.

I'd take a 2nd round pick and a Safety or 2nd and 5th round picks.
