We need to talk about the previous drafts

I'm not sure I can out Pearsall or IG in the looking good category. Still crazy that they spent a 3rd rounder on a fg kicker. That's a ton of bad draft picks. No way around it and it shows everywhere on this roster.

Puni's been out best Offensive linemen by far this season (he did have a bad game today), and Pearsall's shown promise (he's the best WR we've drafted in any of the players I listed above) and Guerendo's shown promise (he's made mistakes, not going to deny that).

I'm not saying they've played perfectly as both of them have made mistakes, but I'm not going to throw the towel in on them either.

We traded away 3 first round picks for Trey_ning Wheels Lance.
Shana_FANS never have a problem with that. We were supposed to be rebuilding the roster.

This. IG had one good game and Pearsall has been meh.
Not sold on this draft class at all (I still recall some fans hyping up rookies like Ji'Ayir Brown, Ambry Thomas or Aaron Banks
)

2021 Draft
- Trey Lance (not on roster)
- Ambry Thomas (bust)
- Jaylon Moore
- Deommodore Lenoir (starter, stud)
- Talanoa Hafunga (starter, injury prone)
- Elijah Mitchell (injury prone)
2022 Draft
- Drake Jackson (bust, injury prone)
- Tyrion Davis-Price (not on roster)
- Danny Gray (not on roster)
- Spencer Burford (average backup)
- Samuel Womack (not on roster)
- Nick Zakejl (not good backup)
- Kaila Davis (hasn't shown much, injured)
- Tariq Castro-Fields (not on roster)
- Brock Purdy (Starting QB)
2023 Draft
- Ji'Ayir Brown (average starter)
- Jake Moody (average kicker)
- Cameron Latu (not on roster)
- Darrell Luter (bad ST player)
- Robert Beal (hasn't done much)
- Dee Winters (backup)
- Brayden Willis (backup)
- Ronnie Bell (terrible backup)
- Jalen Graham (backup, cut a few times)
2024 Draft
The 21, 22 and 23 drafts are a huge reason why the team is in the state it is. There's no depth because of how bad those drafts were.
- Ricky Pearsall (looks good)
- Renardo Green (looks good)
- Dominick Puni (stud)
- Malik Mustapha (looks good)
- Isaac Guerendo (looks good)
- Jacob Cowing (average, with potential)
- Jarrett Kingston (not on roster)
- Tatum Bathune (backup)
We're an aging, top heavy roster and this season the starters are getting wrecked with injuries, and the lack of depth is rearing it's head. This really wasn't an issue last season, as everyone was relatively healthy.
Teams are built, and maintained thru the draft, and we've done a pretty terrible job at the maintaining part. This is where the Lance trade is killing us.
It's looking like the 24 draft is showing promise, but it's still to early for the overall class.
They really need another draft like this in April to continue to rebuild that depth, and replace the old core as they start to age out.
Those drafts look eerily similar to the 2012-2014 drafts under Baalke. A whole bunch of picks with very minimal impact. That 2012 roster had all pros all over and by 2015 they were mostly gone and replaced with scrubs.

This. No one has any clue whether this draft class will pan out yet.

Yup.
only guy I'm sold on is Puni.
Pearsall has been invisible the last two games. Green is hurt every game.
Mustapha looks good but can he hold up in pass coverage.
I think Cowing has a long way to go and was a horrible punt returner and Guerendo is another adventure with the ball in his hands.

We've lost our depth because of terrible drafting and trading picks for Lance.

Our 49ers leadership team is blinded by arrogance. We let guys walk (Defo, D.J Jones, Armstead) rather than paying them because we thought we were a QB led team (Jimmy G/Trey Lance) and now we realize just how important all those 1st round D-Line players were. We have consistently neglected the O-Line while wasting Ickes on throw away running backs and WR's. We let a future H.O.F QB (Mahomes) slip through our fingers because Shanahan thought he knew better (Beathard).
We literally throw away draft picks see T. Lance and all of the 2nd and 3rd round reaches.
At som point we were going to be humbled. CMC, Debo, and Kittle can't bail us out this time around. Not even lucking into aMr. Irrelevant all world QB can mask the issues we are having. When panic sets in, get the ball to CMC, well…
It's not a total rebuild but I hope our leadership has learned from their mistakes. For example; Kinlaw is not Defo. Patch work F/A's didn't come through this time.
So, what are we going to do about this mess we've made???

A lot of good points in there.
