Carried by wagon along with a pick pocket pied piper, a fiery carpenters son of Elias, Lassie, some grass seed and tools for cutting the cloth, they emerged from the forest at the farmyard allotted to the commander. Irate more than once they sought bright fame and took turns on an original flight to a pacific island to play catch 22 with a ball listed as lost. Satisfied, William was torn. And a legend was born.

Name that Niner year and 5 players who are referenced in this riddle. (SmokeyJoe must name them all)

Im going 1964

One of the 5 names I'm going with Charles Haley

Though I a few more names id throw out there but likely not close.

Keep going. Haley's Comet. I know that one!

But I don't mind at all SmokeyJoe right away answering or knowing the answer.
It's so intriguing. Furthermore, I would LOVE to hear from him HOW he deduced the answer.
Lately I've been watching old episodes of Columbo. For me it is totally engaging how he solves those murders.
On this one KRO, I don't think I'm getting any closer to the answer unfortunately.

I realized with your answer that you could take scatter gun approach and name every year, one at a time, to win.
Love Columbo. The way he always looked down at a spot on the floor to get his mark. The disarming nature of his acting and the humble refences to his wife, is old beat up car and crumpled jacket make him endearing to me.

What a coincidence! In the last episode I watched, which was last night, he "looked down at a spot on the floor."
I'm making time for a Columbo episode (or two) just about every night now.

So, 1997 is getting close to the correct year?

When actors are required to move from one location to another during filming on a sound stage, the exact spot they are to move to is marked on the floor, usually with a piece of tape. This is to ensure that they stand in the area that is preset for the correct camera angle, lighting, sound, etc. Part of Falk's trademark behavior as Columbo was out of necessity, as he pretended to scratch or touch his forehead over his left eye. In reality, he blocked the camera view of his good eye, so as he was looking down, he could locate the tape on the floor. That is how his trademark "pensive Columbo look" got its start. (reddit)

That's a loaded question. It is relatively closer depending on what could be considered close. If you consider 1998 close then no. As Columbo would say...... Oh, and one more thing. You are closer than Kriz.

Quite interesting to know KRO.
However, in this episode, scuff marks (from the shoe polish from the shoes) on the floor were part of the crime scene. They indicated that the body was dragged across the floor by the killer.
But if it all was just a clever way of making the marks you described, I must give it to them for their creativity.
Hey, gotta start Work!
I'll be back. Probably too soon.
Help! I think I'm addicted to this place here!

Terrell Owens- our last HOF receiver, I think he goes by Sr in some references.

left and right is how they lined up when they played together.

What an awesome thought process. Probably deserves to be called a WINNER even though it wasn't the answer in had in mind.

I hope you stick around for more of these mitpdub.

Thanks! Looking forward to future trivia
I think I might have it. At least have it narrowed down to a 3-4 year range I'm confident in. I don't think I have every 49er reference figured out… probably most of them.

I felt bad that I gave the answer on the last question. I knew how close Krizay was and should have told him instead of giving my guess when he asked. I was very confident I had the correct pair.

I cant wait to hear this one. This one had me all over the place. Tried breaking down one by one and nothing made sense. I quit trying.

Some of the references are really obscure. You don't really have to name them all to be fair.
Give us your best shot.

I do think I have it now. Maybe even every Niner.

If I could offer a vague clue, I believe one of the player references gives away the year but isn't directly connected to the group!

I'll let it sit for a bit and see if anyone breaks through.
