I was looking forward to Kingston dominating DTs with his 36 rep strength on top of his top of the line agility. Sucks big time to lose him over Zakelj who isn't as strong or agile, but more experienced than Kingston at the center position. I see Kyle keeping Zakelj because of that experience. Oh well.

I predicted no matter how horrible a camp or preseason he had, especially coming off season ending injury, Zakelj would still somehow make it.. And he did. After awhile you realize some guys just aren't ever gonna get cut if it's a rookie versus experience. Coach Chris can't stand most rookies.

Agree, the only negative i see was that he was pretty raw. 49ers are in a win now mode rather than a developmental mode, that's why I think Zakelj beat out Kingston.

Sucks but I'm not going to stress about it. ShanaLynch found Brunskill and Feliciano in free agency, I think they will do that again next year to plug any holes in the OLine. This is still a decent group if Trent gets signed.

So why have Okuayinonu make the 53, just to waive him and sign Saubert? Why not just have Saubert or one of the other 2 guys just make the initial 53 instead of Sam O?

Okuayinonu is waived but not released so he goes through waivers
Saubert (and Ya Sin) gets released, doesnt go through waivers and has a "wink wink" agreement that he made the team and they will re-sign him. Since he's a vet

PK: 4 Jake Moody(2026)
P: 3 Mitch Wishnowsky(2026)
LS: 46 Taybor Pepper(2025)

Practice Squad:

QB 4 Tanner Mordecai

FS 49 Jaylen Mahoney
SS 35 Tracy Walker III

DE 95 Drake Jackson(2025) - Not sure if it's really season-ending or if he can return starting week 5
WLB 57 Dre Greenlaw(2024) - Eligible to return week 5

IR:

RB 25 Elijah Mitchell(2024) - Season-Ending
C 55 Jon Feliciano(2024) - Eligible to return week 5

CB 20 Ambry Thomas(2024) - Eligible to return week 5
FS 41 Tayler Hawkins(2024) - Season-Ending

Did Not Report:

LT 71 Trent Williams(2026)

My guess on the week 1 inactives.

QB Brandon Allen (emergency 3rd QB)
RB Patrick Taylor Jr.
WR Ricky Pearsall
WR Ronnie Bell
LB Tatum Bethune
CB Darrell Luter Jr.

Of course, if Aiyuk decides to sit out, then he's inactive for Ronnie Bell, & if Trent re-signs, then idk who gets cut, but they'd inactivate either Bartch or Zakelj.

Also the team can elevate 2 players, depends on injuries, if Gross-Matos can't go, then Barrett or Garvin get elevated, or if Sam Okuayinonu is signed to the PS, then he's active.

In order for Thomas and Feliciano to come back this season they had to be on the initial 53-man roster, thus the reason why they released Saubert, Bartch, & Ya-Sin.
While Trent is out if we have an in-game OT injury which IOL kicks out?

Tracy Walker will be elevated week 1, almost for sure
The other spot will be either a tackle (who knows who) or Garvin/Barrett
