I know we are all frustrated about how this has all player out, myself as much as anyone, I think. So, let's do our best to talk about the issues without jumping in other people's grill about it. This is just one of those football deals that hasn't worked out well...so far.
I recall the story of Jesse Sapolu, a long-time fixture at Center in the mid-80s-1997. He came out of college with high hopes but he started only one game his first two years, in part due to foot troubles, that eventually cost him to sit out the entire 1985 season. He heard the same "crystal man" taunts that are being thrown around now with Pearsall. Rather than dumping him, Walsh allowed him a year to heal and he went on a run of 9 seasons in which he started all but three games and has four Super Bowl rings to show for it. Let's hope Pearsall can do the same.

ESPN confirmed that Brock Bowers is completely healthy heading into training camp.
— The Goal Line Grind (@theGLgrind) July 14, 2026
Bowers played through a PCL injury and bone bruise in his left knee. He still managed a 74.4% catch rate, 10.6 yards per catch and earned a 2nd Pro Bowl.

no surgery , but his first 8 games (sat out 3 ) were not impressive

If I'm not must, based on the recovery timeline he's not going to be fully healed for the start of next season. Pretty much 3 seasons will be impacted.
Would you pick up his 5th year option?
I would if it is only $15 million, these wr are getting paid so that would almost be a deal.
surgery is able to fix the issue. The talent is there. He just needs to get on the field.

would've missed the 2026 season regardless. 12 month recovery.

I get it. But part of me thinks he can heal up after surgery and become the WR that he's shown glimpses of. The other part feels like it most likely be a waste of money. Idk.

The good news is he actually showed glimpses so its probably likely he is a viable NFL player. Just needs to be healthy and we will unfortunately have to wait.

Not sure on the cap implications but it is time to move on. Can't rely on him at all. U need to be set at WR going into 2027 and Pearsall is fringe roster guy. He was damaged goods coming into the draft and they rolled the dice.

I think the Training Staff needs to go they should have known that Ricky would most likely needed surgery. Instead of shutting Him down Mid-season and get Him the surgery so that come 2027 He would be fully healed and ready to go,I really believe that the 9ers have the most incompetent training staff in the history of the NFL. Look at ALL the injuries ,now the rookies are injured ugghh
