If its in-house I feel like it would be most likely Sorensen. He had almost a decade of experience as a player and has been coaching in the NFL for over a decade now and was on the Seahawks staff for eight years. He was also a special teams coordinator for Jacksonville and was the defensive passing game coordinator for the 49ers last season.

It would be a year late

If from within, here in the Bay Area the name I hear is Nick Sorensen.

If Vrabel or Bellicheat is hired...how confident are you the niners get back to the super bowl?
The same if they aren't

Coaching continuity was such a difference in the Super Bowl. I was concerned with Wilks all year. I've always said coaching is a super important aspect to success.

Yeah I mean Saleh and Meco were internal hires. Guys available now are also available for a reason. I'd be fine with it

PLEASE write the Yorks! Just say"NO" to locker room dividing BS! Brandon Staley!
Google "Brandon Staley caused division" (see "ESPN," "Reddit") articles etc...
Favored players from his past teams, his system. On a player's bday he favored, he built that player up, downplaying a bday of another player etc....
That's just one example. Shameful "leader."
I want winners!!!! ;)
49ers dot com...."contact us" is anther platform.
Let's be heard who we want...just not this clown.
Would make entire team worse. They regressed even tho talented.

I respectfully disagree. The best DC's the 49ers have ever fielded during the Shanahan regime were internal hires. Can the 49ers strike gold for a third time? I don't know.
The only internal hire was Ryans.

What coaching circles? It's offseason. Most are on a boat somewhere.
Pssst, did you hear who the 49er DC is going to be? Katie Sowers. Wow. Really?

Pete Carroll is the father of the flawed defense that sent him out the door in Seattle. Six years of the same system in SF, and it's only amounted to failure. Andy Reid, and other hot-shot veterans like McCarthy run an offense upgraded from the 49ers/Holmgren branch. Remember that Belichick's 3-4 has been stopping these Walshian systems since the days of Parcells. Keena Turner and the boys upstairs need to bury their grudges, and Shanahan needs to save his job. Lynch owes Bill a couple of favors as well, like giving Lynch a job in New England before the NFLPA forced Johnny off to the glue factory. Also, Kraft is kind of hurting Belichick right now the way Brown did to Walsh in the late 70's, so that's another reason to trust Belichick.
It's a pipe dream, but Belichick is really the only way out of this hole. Probably the only way we're close the gap, and catch the NFL off guard. Belichick is not about power and control... he's about discipline, structure, and winning. If Kyle wants to save his crooked ass job, he's gonna need Bill's help, and I don't think putting down 16 Mil on a defensive coordinator is a waste when there's a Superbowl/growth window involved.
Yeah, but I'll probably click the news on by tomorrow morning, and it's some retread vetran from our past to keep the fans brainwashed/lulled into a false-nostalgia high leading to failure. They did that to Jim Carrey in the Truman show (bringing his dead father back) when Truman tried to leave, and the niners love doing that. Kyle doesn't even know that Joe, Steve are all possibly sabotaging the team for Eddie D Holdings.
