Not sure why the Niners would cut this guy before the end of training camp? There were a lot of positive reports about him looking good! Some said they didn't play him in the Raiders game because they don't want to showcase him, and sneak him onto the practice squad. He probably doesn't beat out our top 4 running backs, but it made sense to keep him around at least until the end of training camp in case any of the other RB's go down with an injury. Mitchell has already been hurt again, so chances are we could need Laborn at some point. Does anyone have insight into why they cut him?

They just like McNichols more or they feel like they can still get him on the PS.

This is uncharted territory. No phenomenal UDFA RB for the 2023-2024 season. A break in that cycle for the Lynch/Shanahan regime.

Maybe give him a chance to catch on elsewhere?

CMC, Mitchell, Mason, and then TDP stepped up. It was tough this year. I figure a return in a year or 2 if Mitchell can't stay healthy.
