The San Francisco 49ers had strong representation in Pro Football Focus' annual Top 101 list, and veteran offensive tackle Trent Williams finished near the top.
Pro Football Focus (PFF) completed its ranking of the top 101 players from the 2025 NFL season on Friday, unveiling the top 20. Several 49ers were previously revealed on the list:
- TE George Kittle at No. 27
- RB Christian McCaffrey at No. 54
- OT Colton McKivitz at No. 63
- QB Brock Purdy at No. 81
Williams was the final 49ers player announced, landing at No. 20 overall — a 78-spot jump from his 2024 ranking.
"Despite being 37 years old for the entirety of the 2025 season, Williams was still one of the best left tackles in football," the PFF team wrote. "His 91.1 PFF overall grade ranked third among all offensive tackles and first among left tackles. His 80.3 PFF pass-blocking grade ranked tied for eighth, and his 92.0 PFF run-blocking grade placed second."
After injuries limited Williams to just 10 games in 2024, he returned to start 16 games in 2025. His 91.1 overall grade marked the fifth time in the past six seasons he has earned at least a 91.1 grade from PFF — a testament to his consistent dominance.
Williams allowed 40 pressures and four sacks across 668 pass-blocking snaps in 2025. While he remains one of the NFL's premier offensive linemen, the 49ers must consider a long-term succession plan, as Williams turns 38 before the 2026 season.
For now, however, the veteran left tackle continues to anchor San Francisco's offensive line at an elite level.
