I havnt read anything about Nick Martin. Not sure if he's dinged up or learning the playbook, but I had assumed he was drafted to fill Greenlaws spot.

If you care for Larry Kruger's opinion: he says that Nick Martin has been good, but that Dee Winters has been even better.

That guys strikes me as a bs'itter, but I have read the same consensus. Martin looks very good, but Winters really put the work in this offseason and it looks like he's taking that next step etc.
Martin could eventually take over. I think he has the skills to be even better. If Winters is ahead it's because he's been here longer. A rookie learning the NFL and a new system and coaching staff is always behind. But it would not surprise me if Martin eventually takes over. He was the better College player IMO. Although Dee Winters was also a good one. Just not quite as good if you ask me.

I think you're right. Having 2 good lb with Warner is a nice problem to have, especially since we lost Greenlaw.

And because we run 4-3. If it can somewhat resemble when we had Greenlaw and Azeez with Fred

I mean we already know Winters is good in coverage. I don't think thats any news.
Dee Winters has flashed since day 1. The problem has been him staying on the field. How many times have we seen him make a great play and then he gets banged up and has to leave the game. It seems like that scenario has happened 4 or 5 times. So he just needs to stay healthy and finish games without getting hurt.

He just needs to hang on long enough for Martin to get the hang of things.

I think Martin is better anyway. Long term. A rookie is always behind a guy who has more time in. Just familiarity with coaching staff, scheme, what they are looking for, things they said to work on. Martin put up monster numbers his Junior year. When he wasn't injured. So I'm hoping he's Greenlaw 2.0. Maybe he is. We will see.
