Why? We got the horses, we just need a jockey.

We might not find a great jockey.

A jockey just steers the horse, the horse is the one that runs the race.

I really don't think finding someone decent who is keen to take over this defense will be a problem.

Still think if Morris is out in LA, he ends up in SF.
Please no but I can see it since he's close with Kyle
Why? He's a damn good defensive mind

Please, not Nolan. He had Dallas defense in the all-time worst running. It's got to be Steve Wilks. I don't know anything about Chris Harris. 🤔
Chris Harris coached on Anthony Lynn's staff in San Diego/L.A. under Lynn and Gus Bradley. Bradley's system has some of the same roots as ours.
Give me Harris and Wilks.
I'm sure it most likely be one or the other. Here's another interesting nugget about Chris Harris. In 2006 with the Bears, he played under Steve Wilks ( DB coach) who is also on consideration for our D.C. position, and with (get this) Robbie Gould
. If you trace the Niners system, Steve Wilks, and Chris Harris' history back far enough all have ties to Lovie Smith/Monte Kiffen. Now I know there has been some evaluation for all listed, but my point is that both Wilks and Harris are probably good candidates to continue something similar to what we are already doing, which is something Kyle said he was looking for.

Steve Wilks, who went 6-6 as Panthers interim coach, set to interview for 49ers' defensive coordinator job today.

Good catch! Yeah Monte Kiffen is like Kyle's defensive father lol.
I feel like Kyle might be able to get both on the staff if they are down for it.

This is not an ideal situation--franchise squats on defensive coordinator who may or may not be retained, costing him other opportunities. It happens in the NFL sometimes, but it's regrettable given the overall hiring-equity landscape. https://t.co/YQC8qZkvEW

Denver was trying to do the same thing to Evero before relenting. Huge dick move.

Why would the Cardinals want let go of Joseph at this point even if they know they won't him. Their division rivals are looking for a D-coordinator...They don't want him going there. The 49ers must already know who they want anyway and that they will available with all the coaches bring hired left and right.

Because it's the right thing to do and how you keep yourself from being seen as a pariah in the coaching community. It's not VJs fault that the Cards are taking five hundred years to pick a coach.
