Who will be the next 49ers Defensive Coordinator?

Please, not Nolan. He had Dallas defense in the all-time worst running. It's got to be Steve Wilks. I don't know anything about Chris Harris. 🤔

Chris Harris coached on Anthony Lynn's staff in San Diego/L.A. under Lynn and Gus Bradley. Bradley's system has some of the same roots as ours.
Bummer would have liked an interview

Totally turned around a Panthers team that was left for dead. Did some good things with the players he had on defense. He'd have far better players to work with and a true team defense. Worth a conversation just to even talk about that turnaround- what did he do, what did he change to get that turnaround. He's also never had the chance for any kind of continuity- never had back to back seasons running the same D, He'd have a shot at that here.

Experienced, players talk about him with respect, his philosophy matches with the D and players we already have, has turned around underperforming teams/units in a short space of time, DB seems to be a strength while it's our weakness.

That about covers it I think.

Because everyone else got hired by other teams

Because we're almost out of options.

And he's a potential 3rd round pick

Because he's a damn good defensive coordinator. His defenses have been good everywhere he's been with being at least the DC

Probably not in the new HC's plans.

Because it was a dick move to force him to stay under contract even though he signed up to work under Hackett and not Payton. Generally when a new coach takes over, the staff either gets let go or are given the option to stay and not forced to do so, apparently he wanted to pursue other opportunities.
