PS: The zero indication was referencing THIS off season knowing Trey is the new starter.

Okay, THIS off-season… Was the drafting of Danny Gray for him to be a ghost route specialist that won't see any deep targets? Jimmy hardly ever even attempted any, even if for nothing else than to back the defense up. I think Trey will and drafting Gray indicates that for me.

Hey NC 😘

Beautiful. If he keeps this up he'll be doing way less clearing routes, that's for sure. He and Ray-Ray. It looks like Kyle finally has TWO deep threats (where he couldn't find 1 in 5 previous seasons) and he may not be afraid to use them!
Did Jimmy G limit the offense? YES. LOL.

Is TREY ERA going to BLOW UP especially with a stack WR crop and plenty of RBs? YES. GO AND DESTROY THE LAMBS!!!!

Reminds me of the KC situation with Mahomes and Alex Smith and winning their SB.. KC didn't really go after and added more weapons and fix their defense until Alex Smith was gone, but Alex Smith was definitely better than Jimmy G and Smith was actually traded for picks multiple times, everything is CYCLES, TRIAL BY FIRE time for blessings with TREY ERA hopefully multiple SBs, he definitely has better character than Mahomes.

Kyle finally got his Steve Young 2.0🏆🏅🏆🏅🏆🏅🏆
With this WR group, it would be a dirty damn shame to keep running the ball as much as we did with Jimmy.

Make no mistake; we will still be a run first/run dominant team imo. It's just that now we can actually make teams pay if and when they stack the box and it won't always be with 5 yard slants over the middle and YAC as our only "explosives"

Seems like it.

Triple option baby!! Yet another thing that changes the offense
^ That play is a nightmare for defenses on goal line situations

I can see Trey getting a few TDs this season keeping those with power up the gut; teams will definitely be concerned with Deebo swinging out there
the long ball is back

For you guys talking about passing attempts versus run attempts, I have a hypothetical question - if two teams have the same identical playbook, but one team calls many more run plays from it while the other team calls many more passing plays, is it the same offense?

lol after I posted that I realized I don't know where I'm going with it. If one team prefers all the short passing plays while the other prefers to dial up longer developing pass plays, then it's not the same offense.

I say personnel dictates which part of a playbook a team leans into. It always has been that way and always will be—at least for teams that don't suck. If Jimmy G were on the Rams and Stafford were on the 49ers last year, each team's scheme would look very similar to the one the other team ran last year. Just like with Trey we'll be doing more QB draws, triple options, and deep throws.

Plays, playbooks, and general preferences are just the bones of the offense. The players are the flesh and blood. The players are the life.

Agree 💯%.
I've always thought that the triple option was a short form of the QB boot pass off the RPO. (From a philosophical point of view)
I'm really excited for what Trey can do. I'm curious though if he'll have the accuracy to hit certain throws. It seems the Deep Out routes are ones that he's struggling with in Training Camp right now.

But that's fine for now, I guess. Shanahan will know that that is not a throw he can consistently make and cater around that, similar to how Jimmy had a certain bundle of throws that he excelled in.
Even with a small sample size we've seen Trey make deep throws that Jimmy can't make or won't try. We've also seen the ability to run. So yes I'll say the offense will look different because Trey is a better athlete.
