Agreed.

I wonder how much this situation will affect him long term. Guess we will see. I hope he plays for a good while.

Yeah, everyone say's that this is Trey's chance to get the job and keep it. Got news, once Brock is healthy again, he's the starter.

This is Lance's chance to prove he can play in this league at some level. At this point, no one knows for sure what he can and cannot do. The conundrum is; it will take game reps before we find out, and that means the possibility of enduring something significantly less than Purdy was doing. At this point, that will be a tall order. Purdy finished the season with a passer rating of 107.3, tops in the league. Better than Mahomes' 105.2!

Trey has a chance to start the first few games of the season, if Brock is not ready. But, he has no shot of keep the job, once Brock is cleared to play.

Of course he does. If Trey is playing and we are winning, Kyle won't make a random switch. He's shown time after time he plays the player with the hot hand.

We have the advantage to make sure Purdy is fully healthy before throwing him back on the field. Treys gonna have a chance to prove him self and by week 4-5 if he's doesn't Purdy should be more than a 100% by then and ready to play.

Wow, he really should be going to the sb:(

We don't know that. Just like no one knows how good Trey is or not from just 3 games started., no one knows how Purdy would have fared vs elite competition in the Eagles for the full 60 minutes.

That was another terrible thing about the injury - we did not get to see if Brock could pass that test vs the Eagles D like he did against much lesser defenses. He only put up 19 on the Cowboys and was contained from his off schedule brilliance against the weaker defenses - if Dak wasn't Dak and our D wasn't quite as good we likely go home.

I love Brock but on that first drive vs Philly Brock held onto the ball too long and took his sweet time getting rid of it and was partially responsible for what happened. I don't care if someone is elite vs weaker competition since you don't play weaker completion in the NFC Title game and Super Bowl. Need to ball out in those games or regular season performances mean jack. See Steve Young....thankfully he got us one Lombardi that one year and the other years left a lot to be desired in the playoffs.
I think Purdy and Jimmy G have had season ending injuries in their first 8 games of significant playing time... lol crazy...

Purdy played well enough against playoff-caliber teams to get two wins. That much we know. We don't know if the 49ers would have beaten the Eagles or not if he hadn't been injured. The fact he had checked all the boxes up to that point suggests he would have checked one more. However, to say it was his fault he was injured is a stretch.

guess you have never had a freak injury happen to you? Sometimes s**t just happens, irritating take.

P.S. Steve had several concussions, were those his fault? Or no cause he got the Lombardi? Lol

PARTIALLY. Dang man please read. And partially in terms of overall what happened on the play - Reddick got to him and made a play before he got rid of the ball - the injury was just unfortunate but if he throws sooner that doesn't happen.

He took his sweet time getting rid of it and didn't feel the rush or respect the Eagles biggest threat in their D-Line. That's on Shanahan too.

Not every box gets checked. He didn't light it up vs Dallas he just didn't make mistakes and let Dak be Dak and our D win the game for us. He was Jimmy without the oh know Jimmy picks that game and 19 points was fortunately enough to get the job done. He was certainly contained by Dallas more so than any other game he played.

A win vs Seattle any competent QB should be able to take that one. Dallas was impressive since he didn't mess up like Jimmy and be a liability. I wanted to see how he would do against Philly as only putting up 19 points likely gets us knocked out of that game.

Not going to crown him unless I see a whole season of elite play + a SB ring. We got rid of Jimmy for Trey because we want to win the SB. Regular season performance doesn't mean much for this team without getting that ring. I'd say the same if Lance came in and lit it up during the regular season but fails in the biggest of games deep in the playoffs.

I'm talking about the play itself - the fact that the pass rusher got to him and made that play and caused the fumble etc. The injury itself was a freak play and bad luck.

Steve had those concussions later - obv I am talking about his performances vs Dallas and GB. Guess when you grow up with Montana and get 4 Lombardis you get spoiled when their successor is not as good and cannot bring it home as often.
There are several great qbs that haven't gotten a ring. Um Marino, Tittle, Moon?

Hearst was a fabulous running back but I should blame him for costing us the sb by getting his ankle destroyed. I should blame Montana for the elbow too. But I won't cause he already got us rings. . I get being spoiled but not being satisfied with a player unless they give ya a ring, well you're missing out imo.

Purdy throws touchdowns and wins games. Fix the elbow and we go to the Super Bowl.
