To me the best scenario is letting Kyle decide in OTAs and TC. I'm a little bewildered that he didn't see enough from Brock to have him ahead of either Trey or Jimmy, but maybe Brock just doesn't practice well. We all know Jimmy didn't. But if Kyle thinks it's Purdy time, then LFG! If Purdy still needs more recovery time, the silver lining will be getting Trey reps and seeing what we have in him.

The way I recall the off-season was that after a year of watching from the sideline, Kyle had committed to Lance as the starter for the season. Despite sometimes inconsistent days in TC and PS, Lance was to be the guy. With all the draft capital invested in him, Kyle had little choice as they had already shown Jimmy the door.

As to Purdy, he began to show more than they expected of him early on. Though he did throw some picks in TC/PS, a good percentage of those were the result of encouragement to "let it rip" into tight windows to see what could be done. Subsequent comments by Warner and others indicated that Purdy was impressing people beyond their expectations. As we later learned, it was Purdy's TC and PS performance that led to the FO eating Sudfeld's $2M deal, even putting him on the 53 because it was obvious he was deserving.

Fast forward we now hear even more stories about Purdy's rapid progress during the season, how he challenged the #1 defense, and how all that earned the respect of the staff. Once Purdy began to play, it was obvious on numerous occasions that Kyle was delighted with his play. I recall one presser where Kyle noted that he could now call any play in the book if he thought it would work. He didn't have to thing about who was under center. It was like that was a breath of fresh air for Kyle.

Given what has transpired, I would be shocked if a healthy Purdy is not the starter come fall. In the meantime, as you say, TL will get a lot of needed reps while Brock is still rehabbing. All of which will result in a very solid QB situation come regular season.

Brock is the starter if healthy.

Yeah, everyone say's that this is Trey's chance to get the job and keep it. Got news, once Brock is healthy again, he's the starter.

It's not a tough decision. Do the repair, not the TJ.

The mayo clinic has spoken:) lol

The issue is depending on how bad it is, a repair could only be delaying the inevitable TJ reconstruction, so you don't want to gamble on a repair, re-injure yourself in week 8, and then be out a year after that and essentially ruin your 2023 AND 2024 seasons.

Typically because of the way a QB uses his arm, a reconstruction isn't necessary because they don't put the stress on it that pitchers do. Often times pitchers just opt for TJ regardless because they want to get it over with.

Brock is a QB who doesn't rely on arm strength, so its very well possible that a repair makes the most sense, and he'll never have to worry about TJ.

But like I said, there is a possibility that he ends up putting his 2024 season in danger if they don't make the right call here.

Surely they will repair it, it's only 3 months down before he throws again and be ready for late TC
Our boy was named offensive rookie of the year on fox. It's not the most official award, but let's cheer for that one coming up.

HHe's been the number one ranked quarterback in the NFL since Miami isn't he? Yeah you bet he's offensive Rookie of the Year. We were all worried about the pics, but they never happened

Kansas City is where 49ers QBs go to end their Careers.

One great thing about Purdy or Lance... they probably will not end up in Kansas City.

We don't want 'em. We don't need 'em.

By the way, that's De Berg. Also, that's Grbac.

Yeah that is a concern.

Pretty sure 8th round legend Elvis Grbac ended his career as a free agency bust with Baltimore.

No, link, dummy - just common sense.
It's been almost a week. How you walk around with that dangling elbow? I'd be tripping in my mind.
