This is just bringing the facts. He's reporting on what a player said to him. He's reporting on a player's opinion of the QB situation going into next season. That's what he's supposed to do.

If you're looking for puff pieces and what you feel is positive coverage, you're not looking for an actual reporter. You're looking for a spokesman.

Purdy has been impressing players in since practice and carried that over to games. He's been playing like he belongs way before his number was called. And players notice that.

And I'm all for it, I hope his elbow heals and he proves again that he's the guy.

His elbow will heal up within time. These operations are pretty straight forward. He will be throwing by April and be up to speed by training camp. No need to worry he will be back to his old self by then.
throwing in two months.. ?

Three months is the standard. February, March, April.... well late April is possible if the op is done quick smart....12 weeks

Damn Goatie knows what operation Purdy is getting and the results of it before him.

Lol calling what will happen if TL is named a fact.. it's some players opinion. It's not a fact. An anonymous coward players opinion. If this guy even exists.

You think Trey partakes in all the OTAs, then TC as the starter, then plays majority of preseason as the starter….only for Kyle to yank him for Purdy in week one ?

not gonna happen. The only way Brock was a shoe in as starter for 2023 was if he won the SB. He's at a major disadvantage now bc of the injury. Trey has the keys to the Ferrari…

yeah, but he needs to start with a pinto or a pacer.

So you're saying the best way to develop a young QB is by putting him in the worst position possible, rather than the best? Thanks for the expert opinion.

Totally misread it. Not even close. Good job. He obviously can't grasp the entirety of Kyles playbook like Purdy so start with a redacted version.

👀holy s**t at that anonymous player quote. Anyone want to take guesses who that player could be? I'd guess Deebo or Trent Williams.

Maiocco stirring the old pot.. who needs enemies when you have local media?

The quote was in response to the idea of an outsider coming in to take over the team...say, for example, an old Tom Brady or arrogant Aaron Rodgers.

People trying to spin this as a knock on Trey Lance is not only reaching, they are taking it out of context.

I'm not saying, nor is Maiocco saying, that it is a fact that the team would revolt if anybody other than Purdy is named the starter.

He's reporting on a player's opinion. That itself is the fact. The player's opinion is the report.

Journalism needs to be taught in public schools. FFS.

I'm just reading the tweet they put out. They just have the 'anonymous quote' for all to read with no other context given. This is known as click bait.
? Has he figured out what's he doing with his elbow yet

We are going around here.. but reporters if you look at old school, real, journalism it's facts.. who, what, when, where, why and real, named sources. Not anonymous.

Since we got so many interpretation specialists on here, what should we think of this?

If that's the case then next year is done. It's written off. At least we have our high 2024 picks I believe. Because it will be pretty high. How can we get a young QB this good and get this unlucky?

What a quack. He hasn't examined Purdy's arm or seen the MRIs. What a load of BS

You do know that having TJ is still on the table right? Certainly not a load of BS

Would it be better in the long run to do the full TJ surgery? It's not like his arm isn't going to get hit again as he's throwing in the near future.

That's why tweets are generally BS. Listen to the linked conversation, and go dig out the background of the conversation.

It came out of speculation that the FO would go after Brady or another vet to be the starter for a year or two until said vet hangs 'em up for good. You have been around here all week. You've read all the comments about bringing in Brady in case Purdy needed TJ. That convo would not have set well with players.
Man. What could have been…

im still thinking about it daily.

You are definitely mistaken on a number of fronts here, but the key place to start is you don't seem to understand that what's being reported here is an unnamed player's opinion. That's it. Very simple. It doesn't mean the opinion is factual or an accurate representation of everyone's feeling in the lockerroom... and it isn't presented that way.

As someone who drinks too much Starbucks, I am almost certain that when Kyle had his "epiphany" on Trey Lance before the draft it was actually a temporary caffeine-induced euphoria. Man, look at him run! Man, look at that deep ball against Saskatchewan State! It's a trap people consistently fall into with the NFL draft. Meanwhile, a dude who starts for four years in a fairly serious conference and lifts his program out of obscurity ... eh! He's a little small. Reminds me of the scene in Moneyball when the baseball scouts are analyzing a prospect's girlfriend. You seen his girl? Ugly girlfriend means no confidence. It's a pretty inexact science.
