Agreed. Garcia doesn't get the credit he deserves.

Purdy, Garcia, Jimmy, Alex, then Kap
Agree with that order because its demonstrably true. Purdy is the absolute best since Steve Young.

Garcia may not have reached an NFC Title game and by extension a Super Bowl, but he was way better than anyone else between Young and Purdy.

I wouldn't put Jimmy over Alex. Beyond that, yeah I can't argue too much.

LMAO

Alex should be dead last in that list of QBs, and that shouldnt even be remotely debatable.

Man Purdy was big time. Pick six was BAD but he made up for it. Only other really bad throw was the other INT that thankfully didn't count.
Kyle said it was the right throw and it was borderline PI, but Brock flushed it.

Played damn near a perfect game after the pick 6. And I'm not sure that was even on him. Jennings round that off like he put an X on the spot for the defender.

There is a reason that most of Brock/Mac's interceptions this year have come when targeting Jennings. Glad people are starting to see it. Then again, its not Jennings fault he is having to be our WR1/WR2 when he is clearly a WR3.
Brock was unbelievable last night. THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is what winning a true shootout is. First one I can remember like this maybe ever.
Purdy sits with a career 104 passer rating. If he had 100+ more attempts, he'd be considered the all-time leader in career passer rating.

That sample size is growing and his game isn't receding.
Not the first ever. Jimmy and Alex against the Saints at various points in their careers.

Brock looking great. Playing the best ball of his career sucks he doesn't have a defense to back it up…
This team can never seem to put it all together. If we had the defense we had over the past 3 years with this offense, there's no way we would lose a game. But on cue, injuries derail our chances.

did you miss the SF v NO Alex Smith V Brees masterpiece ending with the catch part 3?

As was mentioned above the best comparison is New Orleans 2019. That was wild. You score, I come back to score some more. Jimmy's best game, together with the GB one in the regular season that year.

The Divisional vs NO in 2011 was very memorable of course, but the middle third of the game was a defensive struggle. It was only when we jumped them at the start with the three turnovers, and the crazy final 4 minutes that the game got wild.

Divisionals vs Green Bay in 2012 was also like yesterday. Pick-6 in our first drive, then matching each other to 24-24, then Kaepernick broke the game open with that amazing read-option run.

Passer rating is a bogus stat. It looks at raw numbers and compiled a rating based on that. It doesn't take into consideration things like dropped passes, tipped passes weather and so on. AI saw one game where Herbert had a rating of 130 and he hadn't thrown a pass beyond the line of scrimmage. Two screen passes that went for scores and big yardage. Then you throw an INT that your receiver bobbles and it goes into the defender's hands. The QB gets blamed but it's the receivers fault. QB friendly systems like Kyle runs allow for a lot of short completions that are relatively easy throws. Naturally with a higher completion % and all those short throws and the YAC that comes with it the QB will have a higher rating than one that is asked to make a lot of high risk throws.

Those are just some of the reasons that passer rating is bogus. Total QBR was created to try and correct the faults of passer rating and is a little better but even that has it's faults.

What sets this game apart was the back and forth nature the entire game, which the other two games didnt have.

Our playoff game against the Saints, we had a 3 score lead at one point that was tricked away because our offense did next to nothing for the entire 2nd and 3rd quarters. The end had some amazing back and forth, but I wouldnt describe that game as a shootout.

The Jimmy Saints game was a bit closer to last night, as we had a two touchdown lead early on (which was erased). And then a 9 point lead in the 4th quarter (which we ended up losing and going down). Incredible finish, and closer to last night than the playoff game. But last night was truly something special.

0-7
7-7
14-7
14-14
21-14
21-21
28-21
28-28
35-28
35-35
35-38
42-38

Was simply incredible. My voice is almost completely gone today.

Saints gave us 17 to start. Wasn't nearly the same as this. Offense also punted 7 times.

Was there in person and also described it just now in another post. Offense did nothing for half of the game. That game was nothing like last night.

I remember those offenses stalling for the majority of that game until late in the 4th. Last night was something much different

That offense is still stalling for the majority of games 14 years later.
