QB Brock Purdy Thread

Man some of these talking heads really just can't give purdy any credit… purdy throws five touchdowns and per Colin C it's because the colts suck … then turns around and call Seattle great for beating the great colts team (a week earlier) … then his parrot (nick) ya he didn't do anything that mac jones didn't do… can anyone point me to Mac's 5 td game .. I must have missed it.

I'm starting to have faith and belief we can win it all because of Purdy. This is very dangerous territory to be in. In all of Kyle's years as HC and all the successful seasons he's had, we never had to rely on the QB to be "the guy." It was always a strong supporting cast and then a competent QB.

We never relied on Jimmy on 2019. It was a strong running game led by Mostert and strong defense. 2023 was an insane offensive supporting cast led by CMC and insane defensive cast led by Bosa. This year...it's all Brock. It has to be. Some QBs transcend and go nuts in these types of moments. We'll see how Brock finishes in the playoffs

This is what I've been saying since he got paid. We paid Brock to be the guy that can elevate this team above inside and outside of Kyle's playcalling and do for our receivers what Brady did for his. Brock got paid to keep us on time and execute flawlessly and when a play is wrong make it right with his legs and ability to extend plays

He is right now doing exactly what he's paid to do and he's earning that contract. Every single penny of it

Yes. This is how you can afford to lose some weapons on offense to free agency. Your QB makes up for it, just get him the right personnel. I mean that is what made Brady, Brady.

I'm so glad Brock is playing like this, playing like this 3 games before the season ended. I don't expect him to play like this the next two weeks, although that would be nice. I want to see how the Bears and Seahawks adjust to him.. see what they do to try to slow him down/or shut him down. Then Kyle/Brock would have seen it in the regular season, and not the post season. And Kyle could be ready for it, to put Bronk in the best position to handle it.

One thing I noticed was when the middle linebacker stayed in Brock's passing late (not sure if he was spying Brock...but he had some depth), Brock forced a high pass that was almost intercepted. The one to Bourne. I hope Jonny touches on what happened there. Should Brock give up on those kinds of plays where the safety is lurking behind and another defender is underneath. It just seemed like good coverage all around.

I believe bears play zone and man, but lean zone. and the seahawks play zone. If he has time he picks zone apart. I want to think Kyle has seen enough of Macdonald D now to properly attack it.
First of all, it doesn't matter where you are or what is going on, you're going to have to negative nutsack trying to impose his opinion (and what is an opinion akin to?) on the situation. I'm sure the majority of the fans in here have seen growth and maturity in Brock over the past few seasons. Last night, I saw a baby faced, if you will, Brett Favre. Where some QB's would see a play and say, why?, Brock saw an opportunity and said, why not? You can go through life without risk. But, risk can be rewarding, especially when combined with experience

I didn't think he was all that risky last night. Maybe the first throw to Kittle and the TD to Kittle? He made good decisions all night and was especially accurate in terms of placement.

Trent doesn't have to say all this. He means it because it's true. Not sure why someone in here has to "take it with a grain of salt" we all know Brock has the intangibles as a leader. He absolutely balled out last night. Nothing wrong with giving praise when it's earned. Brock has been playing good football.

He's said the same thing about Jimmy.

"I think Jimmy G is awesome," Williams said. "I think he has proven that he's a quarterback that you can win with. In this league, it's just hard to find. Quarterback is the toughest position and I think that's why you see the contracts where they are. Having a quarterback that you know is going to make the right read, the right throw, I think that has to allow Kyle (Shanahan), you know, give him a chance to sleep at night because just having a guy you know who won't throw the game away for you. You put him in the best position possible. He'll win."

This is not to take away from Brock's play. I'm a huge Brock supporter and am glad to see him execute with precision on the field. But to use Trent Williams quotes as a confirmation of how good a player is laughable. He's the ultimate team guy and will always support his QB making them look like a top tier guy.

There was a period of time Jimmy was exactly how Trent described. He had success within this offense. Your point is meaningless, unless you mean to say that Trent is your daddy.
Dude was damn near flawless yesterday. The INT was his only bad throw. Deserves all the praise and credit.

Awesome game for him. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

I mean did Trent say this about any of the QBs he had in Washington? No. He doesn't strike me as a guy that talks as fluff. If he speaks he means what he says. At one point JG was playing very well.

Yup and he needs to keep it up with games getting tougher and with more at stakes.
Brock has beaten Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, and Phillip Rivers.

Never thought I'd say that about a 25 year old.

Just crazy that all three had starts well into their 40s.

Need Drew Brees to come out of retirement.
