QB Brock Purdy Thread

It's sad that our fanbase would give jonnydel s**t, of all people, just for the sin of not jumping on the Brock sucks now and forever train.

And sorry, I dont really know what a crop hop is. But I would call that particular play a touchdown with an accurate throw.

Go ahead discuss it…my point is it didn't matter because whether it was a bad read or an inaccurate ball it resulted in a bad play because of the QB.

throwing off one foot while running is a crow hop. It's not a way to throw an accurate ball. I wouldn't label that as a normal pass.

look man. I don't think Brock sucks. I would rather have a guy like Brock who is willing to try and make a play vs someone like Jimmy. He's now out FQB and he's gotta be more consistent, SF has invested a f**k ton of money into him. He can't be turning the ball over like he has over the past 20+ games.

I love the first drive, he played in rhythm took what was there and moved around. Don't be afraid to take shots, but don't do it to the point where you're costing the team games.
Brock Purdy looked way worse than Jimmy G ever did in that first half

He did the same thing with Jimmy G when he was here…defended him until he wasn't here. We all know he wasn't the dude, yet folks wouldn't face the reality of it, because of fandom.

I don't think anyone is saying Brock blows…he is playing inconsistent and has been for over a year.

Sorry bro gonna have to disagree about that. It's reached Jimmy and Alex level excuses man

Comically absurd take. Cmon now.

Is it really? I'm obviously not talking about just one game (yesterday's). Pretty much all of last year (interceptions) and this year was full of excuses. And it's always everyone else or something other than the QBs fault; in that regard it absolutely is just like how it was with Jimmy and Alex. "No one is making excuses" is a comically absurd take lol

The Alex Smith and Jimmy threads were full of excuse making. Even if I was to concede and say that there are a handful of posters making excuses for Brock after yesterday, it was no where close to what was happening for years in those threads. Honestly, not even close (and I rarely say "not even close"). I think most people will agree.

Well Purdy hasn't been here or played as many games as those two yet. I was in those threads arguing; you know that lol. Anyways we can just agree to disagree on this one; if you really think that no one is making excuses then either you or I has a reading comprehension problem..or both

I disagree with the fact that you dont think he learns from his mistakes. I dont agree inaccuracy has been a problem all year, no. I also dont agree that lack of arm strength has been an issue, unless you can point to mistakes that were only mistakes because he doesnt have a cannon. I will gladly concede to that if you can demonstrate a pattern.

Brock has had three 3 interception games in his career. I didnt say it was some sort of fluke, but you are presenting it like its a regular occurrence, when it clearly has not been.

Cool, you don't agree. Lack of arm strength has been a well known weakness in Brock's game going back to college (it was one of the reasons he was so low on teams' draft boards, if he was there at all). Your failure to acknowledge something that is abundantly clear in football discourse and from watching the games is your choice.

23 picks over the last 21 games would suggest that there are at least some mistakes he is making repeatedly, especially when you observe and see most of those picks are on 15-25 yard crossing patterns over the middle. Now, if he had a stronger arm and didn't float seemingly every downfield pass, he might be able to complete some of these throws. The reality is that he has not demonstrated that capability.

Love Jonnydel's breakdowns, but boy, his blind homerism for Jimmy was disgusting. Just because the guy is excellent at analyzing football plays doesn't mean he isn't biased. How is that even logical?

Sorry, given that context on Jonnydel, I will always assess his takes on a 49ers' starting QB with a massive grain of salt.

That does seem pretty regular, and a 21 game sample size is more than enough to measure off.

No "we all" absolutely did not know he wasn't the dude

Yep. But rest assured, every time Brock has a game like last night, his stans will act like it's an outlier and that there is no pattern. Getting comical at this point when all one has to do is look at that 20+ game sample size.

3 of his 4 starts this year have been multi-interception games.... Come on now.

We're going to disagree there because the unnecessary hitch makes him late on the play. Also, while I agree in theory with the idea he may not have zipped it in there because the receiver is open, that doesn't make it the right decision (to take something off the throw) because the sooner that ball gets there the more time Pearsall has to break into all that open space ahead of him downfield.

We got to get Purdy back on the path, NY.

Oh sorry you meant crow hop, not crop hop. I know what a crow hop is. A crow hop ISNT throwing off of one foot, but yeah he did not set his feet on that throw. I see what you mean.

I know you arent just hating. I know what hating style posting is, and I have never accused you of that.

The objective fans figured that out in the 2019 playoffs. Dude, do you not remember the absurd "You just don't like JG because you are jealous of his good looks" takes? There was a lot of that. It was weird.

True lol, folks fought that one until he was out the door. Now he's holding clipboards and playing scout QB. Kyle made him a lot of cash, good on Jimmy.
