More excuses to downplay brock's poor play…yeah I'm sure the 23 INTs in 21 games is all because of a toe sprain.

didn't here a peep about his toe last week. Last I check you need your knee to throw a football and move even if it's just in a pocket.
When I read some of the posts in this thread, I have to keep telling myself this forum a very small percentage of the team's actual fanbase and probably attracts a higher percentage of people who are more "avid" shall we say about expressing their views. I would hate to believe the entire fanbase is so easily triggered by every twist and turn the season takes and are so ready to dismiss or elevate this player or that player based on how they happen to feel that particular day.

It seems to me the salient facts of the season so far are that the team has been devastated by injuries, especially on defense, and the fact that they're still in playoff contention at this point is a bit of a miracle. The defense they've been forced to field has been learning on the run, but it's a question of how quickly they'll develop and how realistic it is to expect some of the key players to perform as well as the players they've lost, like Warner and Bosa.

In light of that it seems the onus will be on the offense to help carry the load Jones did his part and now Brock has to do his, but he's coming back from an injury that kept him out for two months and, by most accounts, affected his passing. Carolina was only his second game back, so I think it's fair to assume he is still working on regaining his timing with receivers he hasn't played with for a while. He didn't play great last night but we have all seen him play great in the past, so until he shows that last night's effort has somehow become the new mean, I'm willing to cut him a little slack.

Regardless of anything else that happened in that game, the primary takeaway is that they won, which is what's important right now. I'll take a sloppy win over a 300 yard, no pick loss every day of the week. Now it's on to the next game, where Brock will hopefully show us that last night's game was just one of those days that NFL QBs go through from time to time.

Just one of those games...it's all about bouncing back and shaking it off mentally.

Of course the problem is...Cleveland's defense. I hope Brock gets back on track cuz we cannot turn the ball over in that game and hope to win IMO. It will be a low scoring game since we always struggle vs those defenses and odds are Brock will be getting hit while throwing so his decisions better be on point.

I can't unsee some of his throws. I now expect any throw between the hash, downfield, to be picked. Purdy Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Dude it's Jimmy G vibes all over again, when I see the ball being thrown off the screen I'm not expecting good things to happen.

I like Brock and I still believe he can rebound, but you are spot on with the JG comparison for the way he has currently been playing.

This assessment of Brock isn't a one off game, he's got 23 INTs in 21 games. I wouldn't say he's improved since 2023, can you say that?

injuries and being able to play with them is part of playing football. Brock isn't a 7th rd draft pick making peanuts anymore…there are expectations that come with a big fat $265M contract.

brock has not been a consistent QB since 2023. This isn't a one time thing. He's gotta get his s**t together and play better. Plain and simple. Take care of the football, facilitate, use your legs and when the opportunity shows itself, take that big play.

that first drive was great, he played point guard and moved the ball downfield.

This 💯

If Brock can't turn it around we are in serious trouble.

I wonder if the league figured him out? The middle of the field is his bread and butter. Those late breaking in routes with Aiuyk were devastating. Teams seem to be baiting him because they know where he wants to go and Purdy doesn't see it.

He's not a great deep ball thrower. He doesn't have the arm for those sideline passes. If the league stacks the middle of the field and disguises their drops we are in trouble.

There were a lot of people mentioning the toe last week. Just look when he tried to scramble against Arizona, normally he'd leave the average DE in his dust, but last week he was getting chased down by fat guys.
Purdy haters out in full force, as expected. Chomping at the bit to say how s**tty he is and to hear themselves talk.

Something is off but I still think it's partly the toe, as far as players "lying" about their condition..I really wouldn't say it's lying but e.g., CMC said he was great/felt great/ready to go when his legs started to fall off. Then was off to Germany and missed tons of time. I think it's common to BS/not be too revealing a bit during pressers. JMO

There were some throws BP shouldn't have made though. But everytime Purdy makes mistake, it's like, damn the vomit comes pouring out here lol

Oh I like Brock too, he's got some great intangible traits. He's better than JG imo. He's gotta become more consistent though. Gotta take care of the football.

People say that, but the truth is that injuries do impact how players perform. Look at Warner last year with the ankle injury, Puni this year, Pearsall now. If the goal is to actually understand why a player might be struggling rather than just be a hater, injuries and health should be taken into account.

As far as expectations go, I don't think people were criticizing Brock any less when he was making peanuts last year.

Very much true.

I don't think defending the franchise QB from excessive or overly fatalistic criticism could ever be trolling. Some criticism is warranted, no player is 100% perfect. However, Purdy succeeding is undeniably the best foreseeable outcome for the franchise, so it's something we should all be rooting for as fans. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of people here would like to see him fail just to win an internet argument or because they've become so jaded as fans that they only get joy from misery.

I will always root for the best outcome for the team.

And he was being criticized because of the inconsistency over the course of a full season. Again this isn't a one off game where you point to an injury that he himself said wasn't an issue…like others have said no one was talking about the injury being a problem last week.

how about we have some accountability for our QB? Instead of excuse after excuse. That s**t is so nauseating.

One would think you should be improving the more football you play and I'm not sure we can safely say that with Brock right now. His expectations are higher given the salary and that shouldn't be some debatable thing.
