Although I don't agree with Tom. We gave that contract to Brock.. let him prove himself again, before we show the world we have doubts. If he struggles then yes "IR" him for 4 weeks...and see what Mac can continue to do.

BUT it's also true with Tom's situation with the Pats... If I remember correctly, Drew Bledsoe was their big free agent signing.... and yet the Pats still went with the "hot hand". Brock is our big QB signing/extension. So I guess it is not unprecedented.

Would really suck if we gave Brock that big contract and he is damaged goods at this point. At least Mac has shown he is serviceable. Hopefully Brock can come back full strength, but I'm having my doubts.

You just don't b******t yourself, and feel fortunate of your situation. We were fortunate to have Brock when Kyle didn't know what to do with Trey after using so much pics to move up... trusted Jimmy too much when he was nothing but a liability later in his time with us... and now if Brock has issues he is dealing with, durability or confidence... then well, we are fortunate Mac Jones was available to us and came here to be a backup QB, and maybe a future starter.

Unfortunate for Drew, I liked him... Brady became a HOF tho

He may have bigger hands, but they are just luke warm

Wishing them both best of luck... they will both help in playoffs imo
Are they going to bring Brock back for the Cardinals, Panthers, Browns, Titans run of games. That should be 4 wins. Or is he really hurt and out the rest of the season ?

You have to understand turf toe is no joke, it ended Patrick Willis's career. Jones has 9ers above .500 and with the injuries do you really want to rush Purdy back? For what a participation trophy? Think long term.

If ever there was a time Kyle could use some games to build Brock's confidence again... these would be those games, before running into killers again.

But still, nothing wrong still waiting a game or two if Brock feels any discomfort.

This.

I am more glad that Purdy laid his ass down first start! And pretty much caused his retirement.

Tom is pretty full of himself (and yeah, he kinda has every right to be lol) but 90% of his announcing is him talking about what he did, what he would do, what he would have done..I mean it's great to have the insight but it's lots of, "I this, I that, I, I, I." And it's kinda more the way he says it. I will take a humble, uncloned qb like Brock over him any day lol. I mean, Montana (who is the real goat), he isn't like that.

Agree, that's the real question, does he have the hot hand, realistically? Love Mac but I don't see how he would somehow take Purdy's job lol. And why don't ppl talk about Mac's turnovers? Brock throws an int and it's b***hing for days, "mid, Ravens broke him (LOL), should not have paid..." and on and on.

Mac has several turnovers and nobody really says anything lol. Maybe cause he is the backup and less is expected. But why say Mac should take his job? He isn't better than Purdy. It's just the times of instant gratification and social media..it distorts reality for many lol
We are in a crazy situation at QB

Gino sucks ass, not sure why the kept the duo together that doesn't work (Pete and Gino). Just a crappy way for Pete to close out his time being a coach.

To be fair, Brock has 4 INTs in 2 games this year. Mac has 6 in 8 games. Brock also threw 7 INTs last year in the 4th quarter, all in one score games.

I think based on the sample sizes we have, Mac does protect the ball better than Purdy. It doesn't require some complicated analysis to be able to see that.

And I'm not some Mac homer. I'd rather have Purdy back but there are clearly things Mac does better than Purdy (and vice versa). Mac seems to be more poised as a pocket passer, while Purdy provides more improvisional/playmaking abiliy. The difference in height is also a very underrated factor that favors Mac.

6-3 vs 6-1. Not significant but with that said Purdy found himself ranked physically in the bottom 5 of his draft class vs Mac who managed enough to be a unanimous first round selection when he came out.
