Based on this, it sounds like he shouldn't even be practicing cause that won't be letting it heal. Doctor repeatedly says immobilization is the only way to heal it and he recommends 6 week minimum.
We have managed the injury horribly. I think Brock might need to be out 3 more weeks..
Yeah, I am wondering why all the practice too, esp when Brock said he didn't feel good after practicing. Hello?Foolish. Can they just rest the dude? If they just let it rest in the first place instead of putting in a metal plate and hoping for the best against the Jags? Lol he plants on that foot. His footwork was all messed up on that Jags game, cause bad toe..and that metal plate doesn't seem like it helped at all. What was the point of putting him in? This is why I don't think we have geniuses at the top. Just so many dumb mistakes that it is frustrating as heck.

This is my point to my original post. Just shut him down already and let him heal. Turf toe is a s**tty injury from what everyone has said about it. Didn't it bother Terrell Owen's for a long time too?

Yeah, that's right about T.O. too ugh. Lol Brock complains he isn't feeling good after practicing and they just what, practice him more? You gotta be kidding me. Dude, if Brock complained about pain during/after practice, I would have shut him the hell down completely and not sure why they practiced him in the first place. Yes, there are degrees of injury..but like this Dr. Workman seems to be in agreement here, that it was aggravated in the Jags game. Six week minimum rest in most cases, rest and immoblizing the toe. How hard is this to understand? Why not lean on the side of caution when dealing with turf toe? They should have just shut him the f**k down for a while. Do they want to f**k up his career or what? "Oh well, maybe Brock pushed himself too hard"..yeah, he is gunna do that, guy is a competitor. This is not on him. They should have shut his ass down.

This injury is probably going to nag him the rest of the season.

It's probably a combination of things of why Brock didn't go on IR. The Doctors want him to, Shanahan wants to give Brock a chance to play and Brock trying to be the warrior he is by pushing himself. I really don't see this ending well this season for Purdy if he's just gonna be in and out of the line up. Trust me I want to see Brock Purdy out there. But I don't want to hear excuses about a f**king toe every time he loses.

Giving him a chance to play and everything is great and everything but not when it comes to turf toe. Of course, BP is gunna want to go out there like a warrior, this is why others need to come in and just say no, we're not doing it. Best qb since Young and they just wanna go ahead and risk s**t like this. It's stupid af.

To prevent QB controversy they should just put Brock on IR and stash him away this season. Cause if Brock loses one game they're gonna be calling for Mac right away, then boom now you have your QB controversy.
Crazy-talk.
Yuuuuuup.
No controversy. But Mac has been our savior.
You don't think so!!!!! You're delusional, fans were already s**tting on Purdy when he lost to the Jags. Media were already talking controversy. If Purdy loses again, the talk and the injury will continue.
Coaches don't care about fans. Especially ones who are being absurd and over reactionary.

The argument against that seems to be that if he goes on injured reserve he can't practice at all. This way the team can better monitor his progress I'm not a doctor so I can't speak to the wisdom of this approach. The guy in the clip is a doctor but not Brock's doctor so while I have no doubt of his general knowledge on the topic, he remains unaware of the specifics of Brock's case.
The team medical staff seems to think the injury will heal with time and Matt Maiocco made the point the other day that even if they put Brock on injured reserve, the team might not feel there's anyone they can bring up from the practice squad to fill in that roster spot that would make enough of an impact to justify the move. To be clear, that's his take, not mine. Hopefully, he'll recover soon, but I'm also of the opinion that he should sit until he's 100%. It seems to me that turf toe has ended more than a few careers.

Good point on putting him on IR then he won't be able to practice. But at the same time we know Brock will come back from this stronger like he did with his elbow injury. That's why I'd rather just sit him till he's healthy.
