His injury is definitely bigger than what they made it out to be.

Turf toe is notorious for lingering and being easy to re-aggravate.

It's not his fault he got turf toe. I just want to see him perform on the field and lead us to a SB win.

coulda, woulda, shoulda but might this team be regretting the contract vs a possible tag for the season seeing how Brock continues to struggle with health?

I don't think so. Say we never signed him to an extension and this year goes exactly as it has. Say he comes back in 2 weeks and looks like the old Brock we are used to. We would still have to sign him to a big money contract which potentially would be higher then it is today (contracts go up every year).

The same could be true about the Mac Jones situation. Say we never signed Brock to a big extension and since Mac has performed well the 49ers decide to let Brock walk. Guess what kind of contract Mac Jones will want this offseason? The same what Brock got.

The botttom line is no matter what, you'll going to pay big money if you have a decent QB.

Those analysts who are knocking Brock's contract because he's hurt were mostly the same ones who tried to discount his rise in his rookie season because of his draft position. He made them look foolish. Although we didn't get #6, without him we didn't have a remote chance in hell. This includes the next year too. Remember….what the first four letters of analyst are…

Way back in the day, Jessie Sapolu lost an entire season to this type of injury. He came back to have a great career afterwards but it is something that can happen. It's NFL football.

Good post.

If a team wants competent QB play, they have to pay. Geno Smith is getting $37 million/year and he is _________ bad.Tua is getting $53.1 and Miami would love to unload him for a bag of chips.

If Mac Jones continues his good play, he ls likely to get MORE than the $33 million Sam Darnold is getting.

There are 11 QBs in the league that are getting $50+ million/year, and that does not include Mahomes who has push a bunch of money into the future.

The real joke is that they keep saying, "Well, you see. They can get the same production out of Mac Jones at $6 million a year (or whatever it is they're paying him) that they would get out of Purdy at $50 million." Conveniently forgetting I guess that Jones is a back-up getting paid back-up money. But if Jones continues to play like he is and moves on to another team, then they'll end up paying $30 million a year, or whatever.

Or as Grant Cohn is fond of saying, if they had drafted Jones instead of Lance, they'd have won a Super Bowl by now, and gotten it at a better price than what they're paying for Purdy, also forgetting I guess that Jones would have been making first round money instead of 7th round money, and would have been in a position to cash in on his 5th year option, in which case he would be the one making $50 million a year now and, if the current situation was reversed, people would be saying, "Well, gosh, they're only paying Purdy $800K and he's as good as Jones, what are they paying Jones all that money for?"

Just more of the general stupidity of most sports writers who are always looking to draw attention to themselves with their "hot takes"

This reminds me of the cmac injury last year ."hes fine", then he tries to play one game and never returns. We can see brock going on IR here shortly
My guess, he will be back for the Rams game.
