What a mess that he's still injured with this lingering toe thing. Who knows when he will be ready? He can't perform well with this either.
His injury is definitely bigger than what they made it out to be.

Turf toe is notorious for lingering and being easy to re-aggravate.

coulda, woulda, shoulda but might this team be regretting the contract vs a possible tag for the season seeing how Brock continues to struggle with health?

I don't think so. Say we never signed him to an extension and this year goes exactly as it has. Say he comes back in 2 weeks and looks like the old Brock we are used to. We would still have to sign him to a big money contract which potentially would be higher then it is today (contracts go up every year).
The same could be true about the Mac Jones situation. Say we never signed Brock to a big extension and since Mac has performed well the 49ers decide to let Brock walk. Guess what kind of contract Mac Jones will want this offseason? The same what Brock got.
The botttom line is no matter what, you'll going to pay big money if you have a decent QB.

Those analysts who are knocking Brock's contract because he's hurt were mostly the same ones who tried to discount his rise in his rookie season because of his draft position. He made them look foolish. Although we didn't get #6, without him we didn't have a remote chance in hell. This includes the next year too. Remember….what the first four letters of analyst are…

This reminds me of the cmac injury last year ."hes fine", then he tries to play one game and never returns. We can see brock going on IR here shortly
