Nobody loves Brock Purdy more than Dave Lombardi. It's a little disturbing the type of love obsession he has for a single player. You just don't see this type of affection for one player by a reporter of a sports team. Dude is watching games, highlights, and reading box scores of every game hoping and wishing for a QB, no matter how great that QB has been, to make a mistake to prop up Purdy or defend him. He finds or makes up obscured stats to try and back up what he says or writes just to credit Purdy at anything. Dude never rests

Lombardi is certainly full of himself but, that being said, the data is the data. So, unless you're willing to go back and pull up the data he was using to make that determination and share it and break it down in a way that supports your statement, you're just talking through your hat.

He wasn't saying that Jimmy was better than Brady, just stating that, according to the data points he was looking at, Jimmy represented a better value to his team at that particular point in time. I'm not saying I agree with that statement, because I don't know what data he was looking at, and I suspect that you don't either.

I wouldn't say he's clueless - he just overly relies on data to form his opinions. Data is a useful supplement but many variables are to be included to form the opinion. if you overly rely on data, you say stuff like Jimmy G is better than Brady. lol Even though no one in their right mind would take Jimmy G over brady on any day of the week.

The fact jimmy G's stats looked as good as they did is really a compliment to Kyle's system.

Anyways, I like lombardi but he overly relies on data to form his opinions on whats "good or bad". At least in my opinion.

Hope Brock will be OK. At least for now Mac Jones is holding down the 49ers fort.

I don't disagree with him tbh. In 2019 Jimmy just came off a sb run and brady looked old and bad in his final season with new england. There wasn't a huge campaign to sign brady.

Right if we're being honest when that post was made - prior to the 2020 season. A lot of people thought Brady was cooked.

I am just glad that when the reports came out that we believed Brady was better than Jimmy but they felt the window would be too short with 43 year old Brady.

That's what we call hindsight folks.

Having said that Lombardi has turned into an incredibly pompous jerk who constantly talks down to people. He's the other side of Grant Cohn imo. Which is a shame cuz he used to be a really good media guy.

But one thing he's consistently supported are analytics which Brock tends to be on the higher side off so it's an easy love affair for him there since the franchise QB for the team he clearly stans for is also showing up well on the analytical breakdowns he believes in.

I would rather say he tries to find data to reinforce his set opinions. Its like a Flat Earther that could find data to prove they are right, but ignores the data that proves they are wrong.

He must post on here. lol I'm so curious what username he goes by. I've seen a few posters where it def seemed like it may be him.

I also remember there was this one poster who would follow around this other poster (i'm forgetting their names) and just say "okay, David. I know it's you" and it would always crack me up.

Yesterday you post this..

Then today you partake in a conversation about Jimmy in Brock's thread. And not one warning to anyone else to take Jimmy talks to the Rams thread.

From my perspective that's not fair to TD
