QB Brock Purdy Thread

Might as well retire now, Brock. You went from miracle story to pathetic rich arrogant loser overnight, and 49er fans will never embrace you again.

Pound sand, you're trash. Your story will be told as the worst QB in 49er history. Mac Jones wouldn't have lost a single game in 2022-2024 and we'd be 3-time defending champions if it wasn't for you taking his rightful role as greatest 49er QB of all time these last few years. You should rip up that contract as a matter of Christian decency and take your wife and kid back to Arizona and become a home depot employee.

Well at least we'll have the best backup in the league now if we need Brock to come in lol.

Mac playing with scrubs VS Purdy playing with scrubs is a night and day difference. Too small of a sample size from Mac tho so we'll see what happens.

Difference is when purdy plays with scrubs he is a scrub, Mac elevates his game when he doesn't have the players he needs and make due with what he has, we already saw who purdy is when you take away his talented team, that was last year and we saw how that went and still paid him… stupid but at least we can get out of it after 2 years, smartest thing they did

In other words, "Mac is playing too well to let you come back and ruin it. Take your time, maybe after the bye week".

The fact that you had to ask proves my point about NinerTalk.

I guess i'm not surprised to see this type of stuff in this thread.

Mac Jones was a first round pick for a reason and it's not cuz he's without talent. But the overreaction to an injured Purdy playing poorly vs a really good Jags defense which we clearly overlooked is insane.

This is the same blueprint we used vs the Rams many times before with Jimmy G and Nick Mullens.

This passing chart shows that

I don't want to take anything away from Mac. He played his ass off. Quick throws, good decisions, it was a masterclass given who was out there with him. But dismissing what Purdy has done when not clearly hampered by an injury throwing off his mechanics isn't it. Not when he's got a large track record with this team including big time play in the postseason.

This year Purdy is 1-1 with so called scrubs. Unless somehow having Pearsall but losing Jennings and Kittle early/mid game vs a Seattle defense constantly pressuring him isn't sufficient enough for the scrub talk. The second game the main guy for Mac in the Rams game had 3 drops including a monster one and the two had almost no practice time together.

I hope Mac keeps playing great and winning games but this need to pretend Purdy can't get it done without studs everywhere is ridiculous.
Purdy has a LOT to prove when he comes back. He is made of glass and is always injured. Yes, it's a good thing they can get out of Purdy after two years IF he continues to play has he has. I agree that Mac carried this team and made it happen. I'll give Shanahan credit for the game plan but Mac executed it on the field. As far as I am concern, Purdy can take the next 4 games to recover from his toe. Then when Purdy comes back IF he doesn't play like Mac has, there will be controversy. I also think that Mac's adversity has made him mentally tough, something I don't think Purdy has as of yet. It's one thing to have the physical skills, but when combined with the right system and the mental toughness that Mac has developed in his career, that is what carrried one through. Were going to see how Purdy responds to this. It will make or break him in my opinion.

I'm tired of people alluding to Purdy and his injuries when he plays poorly. Stop babying him. Same thing was said when he played poorly against the Vikings and threw like 3 int's. The truth is Purdy is a gunslinger and often times plays reckless. Several of his int's have been in double or even triple coverage. And he has done that in the past too. That's who he is. He thinks he's Favre without Favre's arm.

Purdy is still QB1 for me but he needs to get back to doing what works. We beat the Rams last night with the JV squad because Mac took what the D gave him. Quick reads, short throws, sprinkled in a few nice passes and kept the chains moving. That's what Purdy needs to get back to. But instead he constantly is looking down the field for the big time throw.

I guarantee you we don't win that game last night if Purdy was playing. When the game is on the line, Purdy wants to hit the big play every play and that leads to his turnovers whether it be bad int's or holds on to the ball for too long in the pocket and gets strip sacked. Mac on the other hand makes quick reads and moves the chains. Notice how good our O Line looked pass blocking last night. Mac got sacked once I believe against this vaunted Rams D Line. If Purdy was in, best believe Rams would have gotten home more frequently on him because of his propensity to extend plays for the big play. Mac knows he isn't quick or fast so he relies on his arm to get the ball out quick and avoid sacks.

This Purdy "made of glass" narrative is hilarious to me. He missed two games because of injury in 2022-2024.

Two.

He does need to take a little more of the gimme checkdowns than he's been taking lately. Ideally not to the degree that he abandons the taking a shot element that Jimmy G did after his knee injury.

I mean Purdy showed he couldn't get it done without studs everywhere last year so I don't know It wouldn't be as bad as it is if he wasn't a turnover machine now.

I dont disagree with everything. But, Purdy as a 7th round pick making the career run he has and coming back from that major injury doesn't have mental toughness? Come on now.

You think the defense or special teams had any part in him not getting it done? How many games did our defense fail to close out last year? We have to stop overreacting to things and ignore how those games actually played out.

And btw...CMC is a pretty important piece of the offense who wasn't available last year and when he was he clearly wasn't 100%.

Mac Jones played his game yesterday and thankfully the playcalling and the receivers came through. It was incredibly impressive and I don't want to downplay that. But this is not an apples to apples comparison.

Didn't win the SB, so he would have better to have remained a scrub that never played well beyond his draft position.

On any other team he'd be adored by his fan base still. Instead he's become enemy #1 to a decent % here.

But this is the same fan base that wanted Young to get cut after his 1992 MVP season, so it's par for the course.

Mac doesnt get the win if Collins doesn't cause and recover the fumble.

It's a team sport.
