QB Brock Purdy Thread

In the end I care more about the team than any single player.

who's "we"? the 2023 playoff games vs GB and DET say hi

and no, Purdy's contract wont prohibit the team from adding players down the line. it's looking like his contract is closer to around $45M for 6 yrs (per TK & Barrows and others). this contract will be hella cheap come 2027.

News today that Brock's contract actually comes to 45 million/year, the number I would have given him and all he's truly worth at this time. 😄

It's 270 over 6 years.

I'm sure they'll try and rework that number but what if he says no way. I want mine too and he would be justified. He's as important to the defense as Purdy is to the offense. Maybe more so. If I was a player busting my butt out there to protect Purdy or support him in any way I would sure as heck want to be paid better. Not $50 million but certainly more than $2 or $3 million.

Thats the nature of the game. QBs just get paid more. I think the players get that. You're not going anywhere without a QB. Look at the Steelers. Talented every season but they've been adrift without Big Ben. Purdy isn't Mahomes but he's as good as or better than QBs like Dak, Goff, Lawrence and Tua who are all earning similar or higher salaries.

$77m signing bonus What would you do? Dream house here I come.
Yes a dream house would be at the top of my list!
Wonder what difference it would have made if he won the mvp in 2023

How much is a "dream house" in cali? 30-40M?

Well...

Purdy won't sign for $45m, nor should he.

Well....

....how about $45.1M?

I still think Purdy lands between 50-53m. The Allen contract helped I think as does Darnold but neither of them got their teams to a Super Bowl and came within one missed block of winning it all (that's what Purdy's agent will say let's be real). So I think at the very least they'll want to get paid as much as Tua...53m per.

My guess:
5 years
$265m
$200m guaranteed

Probably team friendly regarding the elbow.

Pretty much hit on this one to a "T" until we get to the guarantees.

If Brock signs a 5 year/250+m deal...its probably realistically a 3 year deal for not even half that knowing Paraag and his contract wizardry.

Pretty much....which is why it's annoying to keep seeing people quote AAV comparisons and neglect what truly shows the team's commitment to said players, which are cap hits and GTD money.

Have you learned nothing. There is no "meeting in the middle". It's the player getting what they want.

Well....

We are still waiting on the cap hits as of now but in terms of guarantees,...we thankfully stayed far away from what Type-C saw as foregone conclusions.

That "bonus" $5M year we still had for the upcoming season did in fact bring his group to the table.

For that 5 yr sig, he gets $100M of Day 1 guarantees and the rest after that will have to be earned. Tua almost got that amount for a 4-yr sig.

Which side really wins,...only fate can eventually determine.

But that market resetting stuff and him getting everything he wants proved to be a pipe dream.

Which he would have done had he played exactly the same all year with the only difference being the Ravens game being earlier in the season and not in Primetime. His stats dwarfed Lamar's and we had just as good a record considering we didn't bother with week 18.

Yup he single handedly lost the MVP that game throwing 4 ints. I just wonder if he wins that does he suddenly make 60M a year?

If he had won super bowl and mvp in 2023, probably would have gotten 60 a year instead of 45. Those missed opportunities he had early in the game really cost him and his team.

The fact iswe're seeing players that aren't QBs asking for mre money too. Edge rushers, WRs, Tackles and TEs are allbeing paid more. It's not true that it won't affect furure rosters. Teams can't afford to pay everyone what they want.Teams are forced to make decisions based on money demands and not performance. The Niners made a decision with Buckner. They allowed Armstrong to walk away. Same with Greenlaw. Hufanga. They traded Deebo because thye couldn't afford 2 WRs making big money when they knew they were going to pay Brock and Kittle.

This isn't the Eddie D days when you could sign and keep anyone you wanted. The Niners haven't won a SB since 1995. They've had talent but always something was missing. Depth is often an issue in a league where injuries are so common. The Niners aren't alone in this. It's a league wid eissue that needs to be addressed during the next player/owners meetings.
