Don't take that as hate as I'm 100% behind the guy but I do think he needs to back to 23/24. Dudes paid now it's ime for him to earn it. Well... not that he hasn't earned it but he needs to play up to it.
How many games did we have last year that weren't closed out cuz the defense couldn't hold the lead? Because the kicker couldn't make a critical kick. Because someone dropped a big pass that could've closed out the game?
It's a team sport and while nobody can argue that Brock didn't play up to his own standard when you look at everything happening with the team and the coaching, he didn't play nearly as bad as some people pretend.
Clearly the team agreed.

Well deserved and Hurrah.
So glad this deal got done NOW not in september! The vibe is so much better. No bitter aftertaste like from the alley fights we had with deebs aiyuk bosa.
They got paid but held a GRUDGE (and rightfully so). None of them really came back.
This is much better way to do things. $53M is about right given the market and Purdy being a young top 10 qb.
Only question is his health and that is mostly up to the line.
Did JED really have to sell 6% of the franchise to come up with the cash needed for this deal? SHeesh.
Now we need to get top QB coaching and pass design talent around purdy. He will THRIVE.

Congrats to Brock!
Now we can shift the debate to something else for the remainder of the offseason...

That's all I was saying myself. I never said it was all on him. He threw multiple 4th quarter interceptions with the game on the line and I would like to see him not do that. Again, I am 100% behind him but I have my small concerns. If he plays like 23/24 Brock, he's easily top 5 if not top 3 QB. Getting a fully healthy CMC and Aiyuk should do him wonders.

This is exactly where I was hoping he'd fall. Low 50's is appropriate. It's good for him and the team. Anyone poo pooing this deal doesn't really understand NFL football. This is a REALLY good deal for both sides. I suspect once the details emerge it will be an even better deal for the team.

But it's not a five-year extension that kicks in come 2026. His remaining contract, with $5.346 million in salary for 2025, gets torn up and replaced with a six-year, $279.346 million contract. That's a per-year average from signing of $45.057 million.

A fair deal done well before proper OTAs let alone training camp
Excellent news. Well done to both parties.

I've been one of the biggest Brock Purdy supporters on here. But that's really a lot for Brock Purdy. $53 million per will limit what we can do with the team. I understand why they are doing it. Just hope it works out. While I have supported him a lot. His critics are partially right. He's not Mahomes, Rodgers or Brady in their prime. He's a really good processor, pretty athletic (underrated there) and an accurate thrower with timing and anticipation. Can you win with him? Who knows? Maybe with the right team and on a year where you don't run into Mahomes. I wish Brock the best and hope for the best for the 49ers on this deal.
The real number is the guaranteed number. Which is reported as $181 million. They can get out from under him in 3 years. If it doesn't work out. So that's not too bad. The total contract doesn't matter or the amount per year. It's just the guaranteed money that you are looking at for effect on the cap.

I thought it would be something like $49M aversge and $220M guaranteed so overall it looks like a good deal. I think Brock will do well enough to earn the full contract.

Wait for the cap hit values to at least be released 1st.
