And to some degree they should but this needs to be resolved soon. If Brock is the QB we can't have him missing tc/etc

well s**t, maybe we shouldn't draft too many players worth keeping

haha yes.

caved is code for re-signed good players instead of letting them walk to other teams.

News Flash: Players have leverage.

I mean the new league year hasn't technically even started yet. I do think the next two weeks are critical because you want to get your biggest deal done to work free agency properly, that includes adding guys who want to know who the QB is moving forward.

Then again they may not be looking at many long term moves so it may not be as big of a deal. I do think getting this done before free agency starts is the smart thing to do for the 49ers.
Wonder if we get Brocks deal done so they know what they can do in FA

I wonder if ownership will even allow this type of deal at this point

I'm sure they're upset at the return last year after the big $ signings

Aiyuk - play not up to his own standards and then injury
CMC - barely played and was nowhere like his pre injury form except the Buffalo game...where he got hurt again.
Williams - injury late missing a bunch of games, some dip in play
Warner - dip in play although don't think anyone will blame him since he was a monster before the ankle injury
Deebo - dip in play

BUT the SB is at Levi Stadium this season. I doubt they'll completely handicap Kyle/John from trying to build a good roster for this season. That includes making sure our QB is locked in.

What happens if the Vikes don't tag Darnold today and he becomes a FA? Do they use Darnold in negotiations against with my boy Purdy?

No since Brock is clearly better and doesn't piss himself when playing in the playoffs.

Let's hope it doesn't get ugly.

I love how that was somehow a serious debate all season (though not among people who actually understand football, tbf) and then Darnold poops himself and finishes the argument in one playoff game lol

Like, even diehard Darnold fans or Purdy haters (pretty much a circle Venn diagram at this point) can't even say "well… everyone has a bad playoff game sometimes…" after that because Purdy is literally 5 for 5 on decent to good playoff performances. Darnold is basically -1 for 1 in playoff performances now.

It's the same thing with Goff...and Hurts.

We've seen Brock play with some rough looking pockets/pressure and perform at a high level or a least not get overwhelmed and panicky.

Those guys get pressure and they're totally different QBs of course for Goff and Hurts that's not something that happens often. Funny what happens when QBs are confident in their protection, suddenly it all slows down for them.

Do the Niners take Purdy at 5yrs/$300M or Darnold at 5yrs/$225? Could get very interesting...Could do a lot with that extra cash.

All that extra cash and less playoff wins. Sign me up.
