This whole thread is a perfect example of how much 49er fans inflate how good they think their players are and how the rest of the league sees them. Deebo is a prime example. So many 9er fans think he's so damn good evening though in reality the guy is washed up, Purdy is good, but stafford is a better QB. It's not even a question. If you can't take off the homer glasses……so be it.

how about we let Purdy, who had a crappy season last season, either sit or we trade him and bring stafford here for 1-2 years. Stafford is more "win now" ready than Brock is.
Right now stafford is a better QB.
Is he?
Purdy with his "crappy season" compared to a better QB Stafford…
OMG, you brought numbers to back up your comments.
It's a bogus comparison. Stafford is a better quarterback than Brock Purdy, even now. That's not a debate. Purdy is younger therefore he's a better long term investment. But if he plays hardball with negotiations and threatens to sit out, you absolutely would have to look into getting Stafford especially if you want to win now. With that said, we're as likely to get Matt Stafford as we are Cooper Cupp. Which is ZERO. McVay isn't dumb…
Here's a number. Sean McVay - 1 Super Bowl win. Kyle Shanahan - ZERO Super Bowl wins. I bet you think Kyle is the better coach, right Homer Simpson ?

Mathew Stafford has 15 years of experience in the NFL. Of course he is better than Purdy, who would even deny that? Stafford is an elite QB, one of only 6 active QB's that have won the Superbowl. Purdy is just getting started.
For a reasonable comparison assess both QB's through their first 46 games. Purdy fairs favourably.

You kinda have to be a massive hater to say let's drop Brock for a 37 year old that he has outplayed every season so far. Stafford is more accomplished after 15 years, but the actual numbers say Brock is better right now. Even 2024 Brock was better than 2024 stafford. Doesn't matter how hard Stafford slings it, he still ranks lower than Brock

Stafford grit his teeth and willed his team to victory, game one versus us this past season. I was very impressed with his grit and determination in that game. As much as I can't stand the guy, I had to concede he showed winning ways at that time. Purdy is also a guy that knows how to win, but he hasn't shown that level of force of will yet. I hope its fermenting in him.
Edit: For context - I wouldn't swap Purdy for Stafford in a million years. Stafford is the past. Purdy is the future.

As much as we want these games to qb vs qb, that game really comes down to Jake Moody. He makes the kick and all of Staffords determination doesn't matter. It's a team game

Echoing reporting from @TomPelissero: The #Rams have given permission for Matthew Stafford's agent to speak with other teams about his value. This is not a trade request.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) February 22, 2025
Instead, the Rams and Stafford can gain a better understanding of his value outside the team, potentially… pic.twitter.com/ouYiIQtcr9
He's on the verge of retirement. This isn't the same situation
He said he wants to play the next 3 yrs or so.

He's a declining player. Who knows if he makes it through 3 seasons. This isn't the same situation

Yes, but this thread is about the QBs.

He's gonna get paid and was one drive away from going to the NFCC.
Pretending that this never happens is clearly not true.
We will see what Brock gets paid, but just assuming every team would be lining up to make him the highest paid player in football is not a real thing.

Yes, and Brock ranks ahead of stafford every year he's been in the league

For one, nobody said every team would line up to make Brock highest paid. So that was a pointless statement
Pretending this is the same situation is disingenuous. This wouldn't be happening to Stafford if he were 25 years old making 900k a year

No, it's not a pointless statement when everyone in here runs around talking about what his market value is and how he should just be the highest paid player just because…that's a disingenuous statement in itself. If there isn't a single team that's willing to pay him that type of cash…guess what that's not his market value.
The stafford situation is a high end QB trying to figure out what his worth is. The Rams said go see what someone would pay you and we can discuss payment and or if there's a trade situation to be had. YOU (along with others) told me that can't be a thing…clearly it can
It wasn't a situation for Stafford when he was 25 because he wasn't the last pick in the draft and his skill set was undeniable.

Stafford is not 25 making 900k. Hes at the end of his career and the team he's on is considering letting him go before he falls off a cliff. Nobody has ever told you that couldn't happen lmao

Omg ya'll yapped about market value and he had to get paid elite money just because he was the next QB to be paid.
Go let him see his market value is if negotiations go south. We did the same s**t with BA. Baltimore did it with Lamar when they gave him the non-exclusive tag. Rams are doing it with Stafford.
I don't think it comes to that but if Brock says he has to be in that Dak range or more. That's a situation where you can do that or say we will let you play your deal out and go from there.
