I'm expecting $60M a year but $50M a year would be great.

would you take less money so your company could be more productive?

I wouldn't.

The difference is if his company is more productive he will be more likely to get paid again in 5 years, and if he wins a SB he will get even more sponsor deals. He shouldn't have to take a discount, considering the number of mediocre QB's who have done nothing in the playoffs getting paid 55+ mil, but hopefully he is smart about looking down the road and considering what will allow him to make even more.

Fair enough.

Just don't think it's fair for fans to be demanding he take less to build a team around him.

A team friendly contract is no guarantee they will do the right thing with the "savings"

Trevor and Dak really screwed the market up for teams.

Yea. It's a tough situation. I don't think he owes it to the team to give a friendly deal but what 99 says is also correct. He will ultimately earn more if he is more successful and theoretically he would be with more $ to spend on the players around him. But it all depends on if this front office can make the right FA decisions. I wouldn't say they've done a good job in free agency the last few years.

The fa thing is so stupid to me. You build an elite team through the draft. If you literally have to buy your team in fa, it's not going to be any good

First of all, FAs are rarely elite talents in their primes. Hargrave was supposedly the top guy when we signed him. Higgins is the top wr this year. You aren't going to be great by getting into bidding wars and overpaying for these guys

Not only that, but you aren't going to land all the FAs you want. They make their own decisions. Throw your qb away for more money and now you have no future. Nobody that cares about winning wants to sign with you

Adding cmc gave this illusion that we were strong because of Brock's cheap contract, but the truth is the roster has deteriorated. You build through the draft or you don't have a team, period

It is very rare to get true impact players in free agency. The Eagles are an exception, though. Saquan, Baun, Bekhton. The last 2 were very underrated moves made by their fantastic GM.

They are rarely available and they make their own decisions. A guy like Saquon would always choose the eagles line over ours, so we'd miss out on that. This FA strategy isn't viable. And the thought that saving 5-10 mil a year average on Brock's contract is going to make or break our team is laughable

Ultimately the deal will get done and it'll probably be what everyone is expecting - something fair to both sides. But 5-10 million of cap space per year can potentially be a big difference if it's spent correctly. That could be the difference between keeping Greenlaw for example. Or having kept someone like Jimmie Ward. Or it could mean nothing if it's spent poorly.

Any predictions when an extension is going to happen?

Right, but I wouldn't look at signing Brock for the going rate as the problem. Problem contracts are like the Dee Ford contract. Hargrave contract is bad. The Deebo and Aiyuk contracts are bad. Signing the qb isn't the problem

Agree don't be pocket watching trying to negotiate another man's contract.

What's so funny? He isn't worth 60 mill a year. But if he's gonna play hardball then 2 years $120 mill and he can prove it.

No but you probably want to get this contract done before that to know what you can spend and also bring guys in who feel secure with the QB situation.

I think it gets done but we'll see.

Wait so he's not worth 60 million to you so your solution is paying him…60 mil per year?
