Shanny did this last year and he will prob do it this year. He has zero self awareness

Shanahan is one of the reasons we got Aiyuk deal done. He tends to not to get involved in contract stuff unless it's last minute stuff like it was with Aiyuk and Trent Williams.

However 49ers as a front office need to stop the wait til just before training camp s**t. It's not helping at all. I hope they learned a big lesson from last year cuz it clearly impacted us.

Kermit looked a lot like Purdy last night. Running for his life, forced to make plays that ended in picks… it's what happens when your oline takes the night off and when the referees actually call what they see for both sides. Funny how that works…

GET OUR MAN PROPERLY PROTECTED and we will be hoisting the trophies. There is no debate. We have our guy at qb. Now we need ,D line. O line, CB , LB and 1 more reliable receiver. Let's stop wasting time and energy on his contract… get it done and fill in the missing pieces.

Brock has played a few bad games but nothing like that, especially considering the magnitude of the game. He's never taken 6 sacks plus turn the ball over that much with the stakes so high.

He never faced a hungry and ferocious D line like that either. You aren't saying Brock is better than Mahomes are you?

No I'm not saying that, just pointing out if that was Brock in a SB he would've been crucified till the cows came home. With Pat it's chalked up to just having one of those games and Brock it'll be, why the hell is he s**tting the bed so bad.

The difference is Mahomes has had a great career so far. He's helped the Chiefs win 3 SBs. Purdy doesn't have those credentials. He has one very good season and no SB wins. It should have been expected that sooner or later the Chiefs were going to lose a game that wasn't close enough for them to come back and win late. Those things catch up to you eventually.

i bet are weak offense at week 17/18 would have carved up Philly if we played them. Our scheme just works just works against them.. like the Rams and other WC style offenses

The chiefs offense these last few years has been very 2006 ish. Ball control, first downs slowly but surely, run the ball for 2-3 yards a play but usually end up with the first down. They haven't been the same type of high powered offense for a few years now

that's the type of offense Vic fangio defense almost always ate up, especially when they got turnovers. Forcing those type of offenses to play out of character.

I didn't watch the game but based on what I've read and seen of the chiefs the last few years, that's how I saw it.
The Chiefs shouldn't have been there this year and last. I don't even think PM still can read a defense as he struggles when he stays in the pocket. PM and Kelce don't even stay in shape and just wing it out there. That's why i think the offense has dropped. KC has been bailed out by a good defense and Ref favoritism.

Since you didn't watch, the big difference in the game was KC actually getting called for offense line penalties and they couldn't hold DL anymore.. and with that couldn't protect PM. We did the same thing to KC in our SBs but just got held on every play.

Philly shouldn't have been there either, but that is another story.

Said it before the playoffs that this season was a joke, and a healthy SF team would have steamrolled everyone.

Eh not sure I agree with the last paragraph.

Maybe—BIG maybe—if we win the division instead of the Rams and it's us who draw the Eagles in that game-neutralizing blizzard that the Rams almost stole the game with, then maybe we flip the entire script. But otherwise, the Eagles were clearly the best team these playoffs and it's not close. The Bills or Ravens would've gotten blown out all the same (though maybe the play with a little more heart than the Chiefs did), and the Lions didn't have the defense to compete.

I said healthy 49ers, not if we made the playoffs with the team we had (which we were a few drops and check downs away).

A fully healthy 49ers probably get a one seed in 2024.. If we get some good additions and come out/stay healthy we will have a good 2025

philly was a the best team by default, a cake walk, season and a cake walk playoffs.. Like i said they benefitted from a down 49ers year

Almost and if only. Sums up the last 8 years.

The Eagles won 16 or thier last 17 games. The only loss was by 3 points agianst Washington. All their wins were by 5 points or more. They were clearly the best team down the stretch.
Hope once he gets paid he gets more freedom to audible and call out players and coaches when things are going badly.

Would like to see him be more vocal and take on more of an active vocal leadership role.

I understand him being quiet now but once he's got that 50million a year secured time for the dog to come out and give his real opinions.

the longer he plays the more he can do. Purdy still hasn't played a full 3 seasons yet

We need a QB who can last or play more consecutive seasons in a row. Hopefully Purdy is that guy

Agreed, can't sit on our hands with this one. Hoping Brock gives us just the smallest of discounts
Think it's crazy to think the 49ers just steamroll the NFC. Even healthy.

Sorry...Hurts is better than Purdy. Barkley isn't injury prone. And their CB's and overall rush is better.

Hurts is not a better QB than Purdy but his Jalen's weaknesses are hidden very well in that eagles offense with Barkley taking up so much attention and their OL being so good.

I don't know what would've happened if our whole team was healthy(kind of tough to pull off anyways) but Eagles were built very well this year and it all came together for them. I still think our defense even with a healthy Greenlaw and Hargrave, Huf all year doesn't get it done with Sorensen and our special teams still sucks.

You're on the 49ers message board, lol. It is crazy.

We had the qb and coaching advantage on the offensive side, but so did KC. They had a better defense and coaching on that side. It would've been tough to beat them even if healthy. We would get killed in the trenches on both sides of ball

So we're just going to ignore that that same Eagles gave Jalen Hurts the "highest QB contract" at the time?

These are meaningless words. Let's look at the structure:

Jalen Hurts' yearly cap hits with the Philadelphia Eagles under his current contract are as follows:

- **2023**: $6.15 million

- **2024**: $13.56 million (5.2% of the cap)

- **2025**: $21.77 million

- **2026**: $31.77 million

Now that context has been added and fluff words have been left out...

With hits like these,... what do you think the Eagles have been able to do around him? He hasnt even hit $15M yet.

I'd be thrilled for Purdy to have a similar structure.

Maybe if you weren't busy trying to dunk on people's takes left and right you'd have picked up the fact that for months I've been saying I expect Brock's contract to be very similar to Hurts' and there is a reason I put "highest QB contract" in quotes...

Thank you.

Been saying this to certain posters for months as well, but was falling on deaf ears (blind eyes for forum posting?). Its comical that those same posters are now regurgitating OUR argument now instead of just listening months ago.

Potential cap hits. Discuss.

p.s. Steve,....dont forget that everything here is archived, dates included.

The Eagles not having to pay Hurts crazy numbers every year only enhances the point. But please don't pretend like any of the argument has changed. You could've easily said "I agree" to this reply you got, but you instead went in another direction. It's far too late to pretend like this was what you were "trying to say" all along, lol.
