The only controversy are those developed in this forum.

But fun XMAS win. Improved nicely in the second half.

Well we will see about that…

We will see indeed.

I'm down with whoever Kyle chooses. Glad the Jimmy lovers in this forum aren't making the decision that's for damn sure.

If Brock is a franchise QB he'll beat out Trey like he beat out Sudfeld and be named the starter. I'm down with the winner of that battle.

I think a lot of Jimmt "lovers" just thought he was the better QB than Lance

He is not better than lance. Jimmy is a solid 3rd QB on this roster if all are healthy. Purdy and Trey are light years ahead of Jimmy.

Hell no.

How about win the Super Bowl first and be the primary reason we win it.

Love how much better than Jimmy he is and how his play so easily illuminates how much Jimmy was holding the offense back.

Qbs don't need to win a super bowl to be considered great.

Winning a super bowl Is a team effort and with how this team Is playing right now, anything Is possible.

It's still early, but Purdy Is looking legit.

Yes very true but qbs certainly lose Super Bowls. Jimmy taught us first hand. Brock does not get frazzled. Jimmy turns into a happy footed turnover machine with adversity and when we need him most. Purdy is simply better.

Jimmy missing they throw kills me too, but he isn't the reason we lost. That was a team effort too. He contributed to it, for sure, but it's a team game. Can't blame
it all on one guy, he played great most of
the game until that helmet to helmet hit.

either way - I dig the Purdy chants!

When the chips are down and the game is in his hands he fails us. Purdy can carry the team. Jimmy has proven he can't. The kid is special and has a winning spirit. I don't expect him to fail. When jimmy is in, I expect meltdowns and turnovers and when they don't happen I breathe a sigh of relief.

Let's see Purdy have a single game winning drive or comeback being down first imo. Let's see him win a playoff game, got to a NFCC or a SB.

I get the excitement as Purdy is playing some of the best football in the league the last few weeks but to me he has a lot to prove before comparing him to a guy that has already been there and done that already.
Digesting the last few weeks has me thinking this:

1. Purdy is a find. He's proving to be a viable starter in this league.

2. let's not get crazy- this roster only needs a competent QB. Anything more is gravy. I'm not knocking Purdy - in fact I think it shows....

3. .....Jimmy G was limited and afraid to go deep. He has improved but he's 31 and injury prone.... Purdy has utilized the skill makers on this offense way better than jimmy has. So yea...

4.... Jimmy is gone.

5. Lance's ceiling is technically far higher than Purdy's so I think they give him a real shot to get the experience he needs. The only way to know is to have him play and see if he has it. Unless Purdy xarry's us to a Lombardi I see it being an open completion with Lance getting the nod.

l feel like Kyle shouldn't have Trey run or design the offense anything different than it is now. He should have him learn the offense we use now. I believe if and how Trey improves, especially as a pocket passer, the offense will naturally evolve with it regardless. Exciting times.

I disagree, Trey will be Brocks backup next year, unless he does a nose dive the rest of the season and it's an early exit in the playoffs. Brock is ready to go now, Trey needs more time to develop into what Brock already is.

Many are saying "Brock isn't leading the team" - he is just distributing to talent. MAYBE

BUT, if a guy keeps "distributing the ball right" (check), not flinching under pressure (check), not making bonehead panic mistakes (check so far), playing tough taking hits to make plays (check), and making plays off schedule with his mobility (check) -- I can guarantee pretty soon the team is believing in and following THAT GUY.

ok - another solid performance. Guys are excited to play with him.

What would give me a lot more optimism / confidence now is to see him play from behind. See him play a 2 minute drill. Well really, that is see how he AND Shanahan play from behind with him at QB. Some guys rise to the occassion and their play seems to get even just a bit better, and they somehow see the "dagger" plays and make them to put the other team away. Some guys get tight, and start pressing into the wrong decisions, and make things worse. If he just played about the level and with the moxie he has shown now from behind or in a 4th quarter drive - I'd be more confident he is the real deal and this team is playoffs ready / dangerous.

The coaching staff may want to start playing some 2 minute drills even if not needed to prep him and see him in that situation in these last 2 games.

My suspicion - he'll flourish. He seems to really do well when his is in command of the offense, pressing the defense with quicker play, making good fast decisions.

I'm with you on this take, they way he always seems composed has me thinking he'll do well when having to comeback from a deficit with time running out, but who knows. I too hope they are going over and over again 2min drills.

If it is an open competition, Trey needs to be somewhat close to Purdy to win the job. Right now Purdy is miles and miles ahead of Trey.

I think Purdy has demonstrated he has an adequate arm for a starting QB in the NFL. He has excellent accuracy on his throws. He is mobile. He has high football IQ. He knows how to read defense and find the open receiver. Yes he is short, and that can not be changed. But overall, his ceiling is reasonably high.

At the end of the day, pretty much no one completely reached their ceiling in terms of potential, it is a matter of how close they can get to their ceiling. Many will end their career without ever getting close to their ceiling. Otherwise why would Tom Brady and Joe Montana be considered GOAT? There are easily several dozen QBs played in the NFL in the last several decades with higher ceilings than them (Stronger arms and better mobilities), all these guys need to do is mentally be as good as Tom Brady and Joe Montana and they would have been better than better than GOAT. But the problem is 99% of the QB prospects will never be able to develop their mental skills to the level of Brady and Montana.

Because Purdy has reasonably high ceiling, it doesn't make sense to just give the job to Trey because of his "higher" ceiling.
Purdy tried to hit the blitzer with a hesi move. I appreciated that from my QB. The guy has a little of that Mahomes-type swagger to his game.

Isn't that 45 air yards?

I'd call it 50yds
Everey game I wonder if this will be the one where Purdy falls flat. Yesterday he had a rathe rpoor first half but came out strong in the 2nd half His stat line looks remarkably the same every week. He got sacked 3 times yesterday but it could have been worse if he wasn't so nimble back there. I think Jimmy would have been sacked 5 or 6 times. The scouting reports on him said he was accurate but lacked arm strength. I haven't seen any 50 yard bombs in the air but he's shown enough arm strength to complete those 30-40 yard passes. That's enough to win in the NFL.

I still wonder what he could have done if he had ended up at Alabama with all that talent around him.

Adam Vinatieri sealed a lot of those playoff games and SB's for Brady..

Some stats of Brady's for all his SB's

People forget how dominant the patriots defense have been for most of the Super Bowls Brady has won.
