man young had a pretty bad game overall against the packers that day. That last drive had no business playing out how it did. Lol young nearly threw a pick and rice DEF fumbled that ball. That was actually a pretty ugly drive, seemed very wreckless.
50% completion with 135 passing yards. Lol 2 int.
Young always underperformed in the playoffs. Check out his post seasons stats. He choked away many Super Bowls on those star studded teams. Pretty comical after chirping out Montana.
We had to go full dream team in 94 to get him a ring.
I still think Mooch had a lot to do with that stuff. He failed to draft that elite edge rusher that Brock has currently in Nick Bosa. I.e. when a QB knows his defense is going to hold up, I think he can play more relaxed. It's when a QB doesn't have a defense that he can rely on, he is under a lot more pressure to perform because the offense is the one that has to win the game. Just my opinion of course, but not Steve's fault that Mooch couldn't draft.
I was very young when the packers/49ers rivalry was happening, I didn't watch the games, but in hindsight - I think the simple answer is that mooch wasn't in the same class as Holmgren. Holmgren was not only a great coach himself. But had a killer staff.
