QB Brock Purdy Thread

everytime someone says "In his first two seasons", I always take it with a grain of salt. That makes it sound like he's started 30+ games when in reality he's just done one year.

that's an incredible accomplishment.

You obviously can't compare their situations apples to apples, but it's still interesting. I didn't think I'd see Brock have better stats than mahommes. Lol pretty damn cool, IMO.

Sadly it won't likely hold because he won't play much the last game. People won't realize the season he had looking back on it. Because it will be mostly 16/17 games. Minus some yards and TD's from what could have been. But maybe if he plays a quarter or so he can get a few yards and a TD.

His season will ultimately be remembered for what he does in the post-season, one way or another.

Honestly, I've been saying this for weeks.

I really don't care about MVP. If Purdy wins it, great. If he doesn't win it (probably won't anymore), okay. Either way, just win in the playoffs. After the 2016 NBA Finals, absolutely nobody cared about Steph Curry's unanimous MVP. They all cared about LeBron and how he proved himself as the best player in the league in just half a playoff series.

Regular season awards can only enhance a legacy so much. A Lombardi trophy can go much further. Would you rather be Peyton Manning or Tom Brady?

Yeah, at the end of the day - legacy's are made in the post season. Edelman is a great example. He was a good regular season player, nothing special, but an all time great in the post season. I believe he has like every receiving record in the playoffs - specifically the Super Bowl.

I'll take super bowl mvp over any other award (assuming we win the super bowl with it). Bree's never won nfl mvp but he's widely respected because he actually won a super bowl. Marino is considered an all time great but kind of gets forgotten because he never won the big one.
Could have been a completely dominate year if he didn't have that big hiccup against the Ravens. Well at least it was during regular season.

time to make up for it in the playoffs.

That's what I said, best to have this happen in the regular season, not the playoffs where it's 1 and done.

I get you just fine.

49ers have to decide if Purdy is worth it now so they can structure other player's contracts in preparation for a big Purdy deal in the future. Easy to understand. Irrelevant to the point.

Because whether you set that plan in motion or not Purdy's going to continue to be evaluated in the meantime and if something happens in that time (injuries or poor play) you can pivot away from giving Purdy that monster deal when you planned to. That's flexibility. The question is whether having that time and flexibility is a good or bad thing.

Cheers.

Hmmm....wait a minute,....are you suggesting we take advantage of the CBA to the best of our ability,...so that we can maximize winning?

He is.

makes perfect sense.

he and giedi appear to be talking past each other.

Trey who?
I'm not a huge stats guy. The only one I really care about is SB wins. Passing yards are inflated with rule changes and the sticky gloves that allow so many one handed catches that would probably be incomplete without them. Aside from improving the grip they give the receiver an increase in catch radius. You can reach farther with one hand than two. This is why I don't like to compare numbers from today with numbers from several years ago. Rule changes have made it easier for receivers to go over the middle where it's an easier throw than a sideline throw. Passer ratings have gone up an average of 10 points. Some are even higher. Brock is beating his rivals in this era and that's what I care about.

SB titles are another thing. A Lombardi is a Lombardi no matter what era it's in.

I've said 2 things over and over about B-Rock Steady Purdy... and I will continue to post this over and over and over..

1) I haven't seen any QB this impressive since Dan Marino in 1984 as far as winning... Lets hope B-Rock's season has better ending than Dan's.

2) Had B-Rock been the 3rd overall pick (instead of Baby Face Lance), he'll OWN half of the NFL already.

It's been really hard for many people to see Brock for what he is. They still see the last pick in the draft that is a little undersized. They can't wrap their head around what he's actually doing.

especially that darn Nick Wright or whatever his name is... he keeps stating that until Brock shows him that he can lead the team from behind, he will continue to believe that he's a system QB.

The question I want to ask NOSY NICK is .....

WHAT IF BROCK AND THE 49ERS ARE AHEAD (85%) OF HIS PLAYING CAREER WHILE WINNING SBs AFTER SBs, WOULD THAT BE HIS FAULT ??

Damn, I didn't want to say it, but that's exactly how it came off to me, too.
