Hmm…stars would have to align and that's IF the Niners would wanna trade Lance as a parting gift to Demeco, or Demeco hooks the Niners up by taking that trade and sparing the team all that drama. Depends also on what QBs are coming out in the 2023 draft (and if the Texans even wanna draft one)

This prob needs its own thread when the time comes…

Lance would be a 20+ million dead cap hit. We aren't trading him.

Bumping this so people can stop the conversation of trading Trey

You might have to say it louder for those in the back not listening.

So dumb. Cap issues aside we have no idea what Brock or Lance are long-term. Brock could be Joe Montana or he could be Keenum/Heinicke. Lance could be Jordan love or he could be Jalen Hurts.

we also know we go through QBs like water. So eat $20M on a kid we started for a little over 4QRs THEN pay legit money for a vet "backup"? All while trying to pay Bosa, upgrade RT, along with other positions? Let's stop being silly
Something intresting about Purdy is he was considered a future first round pick in 2019 and 2020. He dropped because he is short and doesnt have the arm strength to make those WOW throws and not athlethic enough to be a runner. Why he was considered a first round prospect for a bit was he is smart, good decision maker, accurate and has good pocket presence.

I think thats pretty much what we have seen from him here

If Jimmy G get healthy , but Purdy has us deep in the playoffs.... you gotta roll with Purdy .

Yeah I remember this. Outside of not having those high end physical traits, he didn't really improve over those years.

Same. Hahah we aren't trading Lance. It'll be Purdy and Lance next year. Who starts or if there will be a competition depends on how Purdy finishes the year.

so right now, the debate is an argument without end. We will know soon enough 😈

Yeah, from what I've read - the issue was his best year was his sophomore year and even though he was good his final two years, he didn't improve the way people expected.

That is a red flag, so I get that knock against him. I'm curious what the reasons are though. I imagine part of it is the talent around him, but idk.

Lance's dead cap would only be 11 million if traded (before June 1st. 5.5 after) The 20 million dead cap is if he was released. Which isn't going to happen. Which neither is trading him so it's all moot

lol why would Demeco ruin his HC opportunity by taking the Texans job? That organization is a mess.

People said the same thing about the 49ers when Shanahan interviewed with them, word for word.

Trading Lance makes no sense. He hasn't proven anything so his value will be reduced below what the 49ers think of him. They have him under contract for 3 more years. As they've shown, they like to keep as many quality QB as possible because of injuries.

49ers ownership has always been committed to winning, even if they were being irrational and dumb about it. The Texans don't give a flying F about winning. The owner isn't even familiar with football. Totally different situations. Most coaches get one shot, and if they fail the go back to coordinator somewhere. Look at Anthony Lynn on our staff. You better believe he's telling Demeco to choose his opportunity wisely.
