QB Brock Purdy Thread

Is he the best QB drafted in the past 2 years? So glad we got him.

That's super encouraging to hear. He's making the most of his reps and studying - love it.

He is playing the best and me too.

He has been a midseason upgrade to an already strong offense.

Definitely not 68 yards in the air, but he did have a 68 yard TD against WVU:

I think this was probably his best 'arm strength' throw:

He does not have great arm strength for the NFL level. Arm strength is a luxury though. If you meet the baseline requirement so to speak, accuracy is much more important.

If Kyle keeps scheming Kittle wide open like this, these 50 yard throws will become a staple!

If we look back at the Super Bowl against KC and the NFCCG against the Rams, we were just a play or two away from wins in both of those...and that was with Garoppolo.

Now we are seeing a more mobile QB in Purdy, who reads the defense quicker and throws at least as well as Jimmy if not better. Why should we not think we will do just a little better with Purdy?
one thing, Jimmy played better than the QBs ahead of him in the begining. 2nd he's only played 3 games, 3rd it's the playoffs which can turn men into mice
Your argument for jimmy is flawed. Jimmy is a grade A major league choker. The moment is always too big for him. Super Bowl, nfc championship, regular season chiefs, Seattle almost every time we walk away with the L and regret. Purdy the kid is poised, smart, confident and has a winning spirit. I would pack up jimmy's locker and mail the contents. We don't need him or want him back. I will never forgive or forget all of the post season games we lost because of his limitations

Get out of here with this nonsense. We had the top third down offense in the league in 2019 and Jimmy has been amazing on 3rd down since he's been here.
I'm such a jimmy lover

Lol

There was a stat brought up earlier this season that showed the 49ers offense was the best in the league on 3rd and 6+ over the last 5 years. That was even with Beathard, Mullens and Hoyer playing half of those games. This year Jimmy was the best in the NFC on converting 3rd down. With Purdy at QB, our 3rd down production has not missed a beat. Not to take anything away from Jimmy but it has not just been a Jimmy stat under the Shanahan era.

Brock Purdy is ranked 4th in the NFC and 7th in the NFL in converting on 3rd down. He has 14 1st downs on 30 attempts or a 46.7% conversion rate.

And I would only expect this to continue too. It's a core feature for how this team is built.

3rd and Juan and CMC sure helps too.

I still can't get over how freaking good and clutch Brock has been. Love this kid

the 3rd down running pickup and getting down while extending the ball showed me everything I need for football intelligence. His eyes show he's calm and collected. And him delivering while getting rocked tells me he can play in then league. And his 70% completion is great.

That slide was class

Jimmy doesnt make that slide.

ive seen this comment often and it's not well thought out. Kyle called this play specifically for Purdy. if Jimmy was playing in this situation (3rd & short 1), Kyle calls a QB sneak for him. Kyle specifically said he didnt call a sneak on this play because of Brock's injury.

He's constantly looking for the kill shot. He plays with an aggressive mindset where he'll take the 5 to 10 yard gain but he really wants the 30 yard gain and he'll exhaust that before he settles for less. I think that mentality has endeared him to Kyle because for all the good stuff he's done, Garoppolo just isn't that guy.

Iowa State was his college, but he is from Arizona—you know, where the Super Bowl will be held in less than 2 months…🍿

The irony is it'll still end up being the same production on passing and rushing yards. 200 +/- 30 yards for both every game.

But stylistically, this 'mindset' will mean it'll effect defenses more AND might put him in good position for a bigger comeback win where passing is strictly needed.

The kid has the right mentality, just enough extra mobility, pocket feel, football IQ and arm strength to take this offense over the hump.

It's hard not to be excited about this kid and his intangibles.
