He is doing better than Mahomes so far. According to the stats.

Who is trashing him? It is literally true we lost that game because of those interceptions. That's not trashing. It's a fact. He needs to play better. When he plays well, he is praised and justifiably so. When he plays losing football, it is pointed out, and justifiably so.

Not what I meant. I was just pointing out he has less Int's than PH 5-8. PH is the gold standard of the NFL. Brock will be fine the team needs to be better as a whole and from what I have watched it is all fixable . JMHO

Isn't the point that he's had to be beyond a game manager in the last two games? Defense isn't playing well, run game getting stuffed… it was only offensive success if the pass game was hitting. That's not game manager.

I'd rather Purdy gets 200 yards, 1 or no touchdowns, but 0 interceptions and a win. I don't care about stats and I don't care if all other QB's were ahead of him stat wise. But this happens when all the team moving parts are all clicking especially the running game and the defense.

I'm not fully ready to leave the Brock bandwagon, but if it becomes four straight games where he makes crucial, game losing mistakes, I'm putting a whole foot on the Darnold bandwagon.
Good luck with that lol

The problem is the magnitude of the mistakes. The timing. He cannot lose games for us any longer. The Bengals needs to be the last time he throws crucial, late in the game mistakes.

Obviously, the losses aren't all on him
but some are going to continue to cry out that BP is not "elite" or whatever the hell.

He isn't elite and hasn't been since he's started. That's just craziness from homer fans. He's played really well and shows a lot of skill that can translate into success with this team, and can be built on.

People who think he needs to be elite now or needs to be replaced have not seen the qb picture clearly here, straight up.

Exactly. Brock played well but man the timing of that first Interception. Has to do what he had been doing. Don't turn the ball over.

Couldn't agree more. As crazy as it sounds, did Brock get to confident in himself? He just does some silly things. Stop trying to avoid every sack, runs around ends up getting intentional ground or throws a pick. Shannan needs to take some of blame, some of play calls are just as questionable.

The expectation that a rook in terms of experience will be elite is too high a bar. All the elite guys playing right now outside of Mahomes had serious struggles to begin. Gotta ride the wave even if it costs us this season. You have committed to Brock, if we get the guy we have gotten so far the 2nd half of the season it's still a win.

At some point some young player has to be given the opportunity to develop. Can't continue with QB musical chairs.

Double post just shows my age, not very good at posting or typing for that matter
Thought experiment: How would we all feel if BP was the guy we spent 3 firsts on thus far? Keep in mind we would compare him to Lawrence, Mac, Fields and the other first round guys from that draft
Glad this team has Purdy. The bye is needed but already can't wait to see how Purdy and this team adjusts and responds next game vs. the Jags.

Well beyond those philosophical arguments, he's actually the best QB on our team in evidence. If there was a superior option on our bench that we were bypassing* in an effort to develop a starter, it would be different.

He's doing fine imo. A couple of bonehead plays but overall fairly incredible imo.
Purdy just needs to clean up the turnovers. He was the best 49er on the field through 3 quarters. The turnovers turned a fantastic game into a bad one.
