In regards to Brock.....It's still real early in this whole process but he definitely looks the part. Jeff Garcia is kinda my comp for him....I just think the way he navigates the pocket and his athleticism is similar. Brock really seems like a prototypical WCO QB. I think my biggest compliment for Brock is I think he would be a QB that Bill Walsh would have drafted.

With Trey and Brock, I feel pretty good about the QB room moving into 2023.

Minus the hop-skip-jump-throw mechanics, of course. Haha.

I think Purdy had one jump-pass against the Bucs. Hahaha

Haha! He's been diving into the Garcia film.
The above videos are auto-populated by an affiliate.
So any power run up the middle for Purdy, Kyle?

San Francisco have found their guy. Book it

Book it, okay I'll remember that

So we transform Trey into Taysom Hill?

IF Brock leads us far enough to get the starting nod, or IF Brock wins the starting job next year, we absolutely keep Trey around and POSSIBLY use him like Taysom Hill. Otherwise he'll just be a backup.

Bending mechanics are okay if the events on the field call for it. Purdy seems more than capable of throwing with good mechanics, so this isn't even an issue at this point.

Oh yeah, fully agree. Sorry if I implied otherwise. It was very Garcia-esque and it gave me a nostalgic chuckle. I dig it!

We're just having fun with Garcia's old mechanics/style.
I remember watching Peyton throw and as soon as he released the ball you knew it was a completion. I get that same feeling when Brock throws those touch passes, good things happen.
Thing is Brock is only going to get better with more reps and things slowing down.
Brock's checklist so far in case anyone is interested.

Can he win coming off the bench? CHECK
Can he beat the tons of blitzes? CHECK
Can he make off schedule plays? CHECK
Can he win when they game plan for him? CHECK
Can he beat a legit defense? CHECK
Can he outplay the GOAT? CHECK
Can he win in a hostile environment? CHECK
Can he play hurt? CHECK
Can he win a playoff game?
Can he win a playoff game on the road?
Can he win the NFCCG on the road?
Can he win the Super Bowl?

But can he get dates with pornstars and golden state cheerleaders?
Thread title should be renamed BCB. No one is chanting Rock with Brock lol.

no doubt. I don't want to get too far ahead here, but the last three weeks hsve been surreal.

SO FAR:
1. he doesn't have elite physical traits
2. he doesn't have a cannon arm
3. he seems to have elite processing ability and reads the field really well.
4. he has incredible poise. no panic. doesn't flinch
5 he moves well in and out of the pocket
6. good accuracy
7. good touch
8. high football iq and situational awareness
9. tough
10. looks like he is having and playing for fun..

Those are all the things that really matter at QB. 1 & 2 don't. Brady and Rodgers don't really have 1 & 2. Montana neither. But they had the others.

I wouldn't put Rodgers in that category. The way Rodgers can throw it without being properly set on his feet, whether that is arm strength or technique, that is at an elite level.
How hurt you think he really is? Nice win last night but not quite where he was with Tampa.

In his defense, he hadn't thrown a football since Sunday before a few to warmup before the game.

Or just keep developing him. We all know SF goes though QBs like water
