AGAIN, no one should expect STEADY PURDY to not have bad games.. that last minute drive, it's such BAD play calling... plays should be called for the ball to go towards the sideline once we past the 50 yard line...
Also, we got 23 and 44 that come out of the backfield to gain 7 here 7 there instead of forcing the issue of getting the ball in the END ZONE ..
eckkkk... KYLE KYLE KYLE.. much to learn young padawan... i meant, young shannahan..

Maybe the Vikings defense was taking away the sideline and forcing throws to the middle. I know we didn't seem to target Aiyuk very much in the 2nd half. Were they doubling him or wa sit just Kyle wanting to get the ball to Kittle. I don't know.

Aiyuk was getting a ton of defensive attention in the 2nd half. We're not going to force the ball in there. Just a product of missing another real weapon at WR with Deebo out.

The bold was the case with the first pick. Instead of Aiyuk running the route, with his usual aggressive precision, it was Jennings. Instead of precision and arriving at the target point on time, he tried a little shake-and-bake on the first DB and then hesitated on his brake to the middle. The result was what looked like a bad throw by Purdy. In reality, it was the same throw he has made to BA on multiple occasions, only this time it was not BA on the route.
The immediate blame is on Jennings, who is a contested-catch guy, not known for precision routes. Secondarily it is on Shanahan to go away from a proven combination. Purdy gets the blame but is the least guilty of the three.
A good QB needs to "throw the receiver open" even if he isn't open when he releases the ball. Brock does that better than any QB we have had since Steve Young. That is what he had done many times this season, and that is what he was doing on that pick. I would bet that if someone were to chart the location of the ball on the multiple times Purdy has thrown the same pattern to Aiyuk or Deebo, we would see they all fit within a very small circle.
Purdy has made some amazing small window throws this season that may have looked like he forced it, but, as you said, he is aggressive by nature and that is what Kyle loves about him. I love it as well. Purdy is going to be just fine.

That's because we have no depth at wide receiver.

Stop Aiyuk and you stop the passing game. Stop cmc and you stop the run game. No else is getting the ball.

With Brock Purdy in concussion protocol, 49ers' QB Sam Darnold now is in line to start Sunday's game vs. the Bengals. pic.twitter.com/NNigQ9XEy4
