16-of-22 for 262 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 151.9.

With each completed pass, Mullens seemed to reach another historic benchmark.
• Mullens' passer rating of 151.9 was the best by a quarterback making his debut with at least 20 attempts since 1970.
• That passer rating was the highest by a 49er since Alex Smith had a rating of 157.1 on Oct. 29, 2012.
• Mullens joined Marc Bulger, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Marcus Mariota as the only players over the past 25 seasons to throw for three or more touchdowns in their first game, according to ESPN Stats & Information research.
• Mullens is the first player since Carson Wentz to throw for a touchdown in his first career game on the team's opening drive, and one of four to do it in the past 15 seasons, along with Wentz, Mariota and Matt Ryan.
• Mullens joined Fran Tarkenton (1961) and Jim Kelly (1986) as the only quarterbacks to throw for 250-plus yards, three-plus touchdowns and no interceptions in an NFL debut since 1950.
• Mullens is the first player in 49ers history to throw for three touchdowns in his first game with the team, according to Elias Sport Bureau.
• The last time a 49ers quarterback threw two touchdown passes on the first two drives of a game was Colin Kaepernick in Week 4 of 2016. The last time the Niners scored a touchdown on their first two drives of a game was Week 14 of 2016.

Things went so well for Mullens on Thursday night that his previously unverified Twitter account was granted a blue check mark -- during the game.

Yea. Mullens was awesome against that vaunted 26th ranked raider defense back in 2018.

Exactly this

That's what I recall. The raiders had DBs but they absolutely couldn't cover anything.

The Bucs with their #5 defense may be just a bit better.

I'm still expecting him to be brought back down to earth at some point, but hopefully he continues to Impress and gives Kyle something to think about next season regarding the QB position.

I'm wondering the same thing on how he handles a hostile crowd and the noise.
Purdy has played in larger capacity away games

100%.
Part of it is also the Brady´s factor.
You never know with this dude. Just ask the Saints.
So when you can go for the kill, you go for it.
He won´t say it but I think that after 28-3 and the little dance in 2020, Kyle certainly wanted to kick Brady´s asses.
Kyle is really a fiery guy.
Also this Brock Purdy kid seems to love pumpfaking the s**t of DLs.
The two comparisons from draft scouting sites I found for him were Matt Barkley and Gardner Minshew. I'm not really seeing the similarities but then I'm not that familiar with the kid.

Not just the playcalling, but Kyle making unrepped adjustments the night before the game says a lot about his confidence in Purdy.

Raiders were pretty bad, 240yds per game was mid pack but led league in passing TDs allowed and 4th worst in passing rating allowed at 101.
Has Brian Griese made any comments about Purdy?

Not just the playcalling, but Kyle making unrepped adjustments the night before the game says a lot about his confidence in Purdy.

Idk if I'd say he has more "confidence" in Purdy - I think it's more of Purdy's aggressiveness with his reads. Kyle likes his quarterbacks to be aggressive naturally. That means that the QB from a "rule of thumb" will normally look or target the deeper route on the play, not the easy short pass or dump off.

I've been and am a big Jimmy fan, but Jimmy doesn't do that. Jimmy probably doesn't really look for those throws because they're low percentage and he isn't confident in completing them consistently (further making them harder for him to complete). So Kyle calls around it.

i really like how aggressive Purdy is and I hope it continues!

Right? Even 37 passes in his first start. And still passing after the INT? Who is this man? Love it!

This also doesn't take into account how those stats/yards were attained. Mullens was not producing in the creative manner that Purdy was/is. That ability to work outside the play structure but still be under control, looking downfield, is what makes Purdy potentially very special. Watching his highlights at Iowa State, it was a lot of the same.
Kyle trynna match his play calling with BCB
