Now, this hasn't translated over to his play in the NFL yet, it's kind of been the opposite so far, but Kyle loves controlling the clock with his offense, and it's clear imo Kyle has built a team that can win if the offense simply doesn't make mistakes.

Another thing Trey doesn't get credit for his poise IMO. He doesn't look to escape like most young QBs do, and maybe he should, but with what I've been told, Kyle kind of wants a robot at QB and I think Trey could be more like that than Purdy. I've repeatedly said that Trey's issues are directly linked to his mechanics and lack of rhythm in the offense, two things that can improve with playing time.

All this being said, I believe Purdy has the higher upside with his play so far. He's executing on and off schedule at a level that we, or at least I, hoped Trey could reach. Being faster, bigger, stronger, or having more arm strength or speed doesn't mean you have more upside IMO.The mental aspect has to be part of the equation. I still believe Trey has more upside than Jimmy, will he ever sniff a career like Jimmy's is still unknown, but Purdy has proven he can play at a higher level than both Jimmy and Trey at this point, and I think he should be considered the highest upside player ATM.

The one game we are allowed to judge Trey on. He had 1 int. Another TWT go off of a LB's hand. In fact he has 1 int in every game he started and finished. 2 TDs and 3 ints in the 3 games he started and finished.

And both those touchdowns came in the same game. He's managed 0 touchdowns in 2/3 games. Hell he's managed 0 touchdowns as an offense in 10.5/12 quarters of play. Lol offense has been essentially inept when he started.

do we get to count games with rain or snow? or do TL's stats only count on good weather days?

Hey river, maybe we should remind people about what you said after Trey's injury. It's like Trey broke up with your mom or something. Give it a rest.

Lmao!

man I just want training camp to start so we can finally get some better information on our quarterbacks. I'm still surprised that Trey will be splitting reps with darnold.

nah, no surprise here... why would they bring in a high profile FA QB like Darnold, and a competent backup like Brandon Allen, if they were sure TL would be the guy as the backup?

Because he's only getting a low profile $3.5M guaranteed w/a 1-year contract. Top it off with us getting 3 QBs injured last year, and I hope that answers your question.

That's what I Do and I get told he actually played damn good and I'm just a hater. Lol I genuinely wish I felt like he played well. I feel like you have to be a homer and want him to succeed so bad that you only think about the few good plays he's had, ya know? I don't think it's an indication of who he will always be but I think it's what he has done.

im hesitant to say this on the forum cause people jump all over you but I still think Trey may be moved. It's wild that he's splitting first team reps with Darnold. The fact they're making him compete for QB2 says a lot to me. Almost like they're prepping for darnold too be QB2 and they may move Trey. Idc if they do or don't. I just think it says a lot about where Trey currently is or felt about internally. I actually hope he comes into camp and tears it up and changes the whole narrative but if I was a betting man, I don't think he's a 49er come week 1.

id be thrilled if we traded him for Hunter though. That would be a good trade for us short term and potentially long term for minnesota. That market might be more forgiving than the 49ers base.

Something has always been strange about this signing though, to me. It may be nothing and he came here for the coaching etc to try and revitalize his career - that's definitely possible. I just find it weird that he could of made more and had a real chance to start elsewhere, but came here to be possibly QB3? Regardless, he's in a good situation but I'm still skeptical that Lance may be moved before week 1, they're just waiting to see how Purdy recovers. Who knows though. I could be completely off. Just an unusual situation, especially making Trey compete with darnold and darnold not just being a known backup. I thought they'd give Lance every chance and a majority of first team reps to push his development

I mean you've already determined he's not a good player. Correct if wrong, but why are you looking to strike it big with a trade if this is your opinion?

I don't remember anyone reviewing film of Brock or Trey this offseason. Must have missed that.

I'm not sure why you would be hesitant to say you "think" Trey might get traded, when people in this thread literally celebrated right after Trey's injury and no one gave a damn.

It's been open season on Trey all offseason. Everyone and their mama got to kick him while he's down.

*We should switch threads if you want to talk about Trey.*

I like Trey, though I thought it was unwise to spend so many picks on him. I didn't think there was a qb worth that much capital. I think paying that much for the kid gave too many folks unrealistic expectations of him, considering his lack of experience. I think that's why we have some folks who refuse to acknowledge that he's only put about one quarter of decent play on tape out of four starts, even though it's fact. That doesn't mean he's not capable, it just means he's still learning. The injuries have put him behind schedule unfortunately. We got lucky to get Purdy, and that he's been so good.
