QB Brock Purdy Thread

He did his interview rounds today for Buffalo Wild Wings partnership! I've always loved B dubs! I knew I loved that place for a reason

He would get PED tested for sure. Hahah

Haha. Most definitely!!!

interesting - I wasn't aware of how he was missing his first read, or at least not pulling the trigger on his first reads, to the point where it was a frustration of Kyle. I knew he wasn't perfect but I find it interesting that it's a major focus. Idk how true this is but Lombardi made it sound like if he would of hit his first read in the eagles game, he may of avoided this injury.

it makes sense that he wasn't as good with that against the cowboys/eagles because they're the two best pass rushes in the nfl. Still, it'll be fun to watch this and see how he improves.

Kinda wild because if he gets better at that, he will be much more efficient, and he was already very efficient.

I say sit him for the whole year... give this year to Lance.. but we should draft the T-Rob out of UCLA..

You pretty much wanna throw the season lol. That won't happen. If Trey earns that spot then he will play, but he won't be given anything. He'll get traded before they give him the starting job

Calm down w/the Purdy hype... the guy played very well last year but ain't no guarantee that it was not a MAGIC MOMENT...

IF Trey does not get traded during this draft on a blockbuster deal, TRUST ME, our HC will GIVE him the starting job to justify the trade they made 2 years ago..

I highly doubt kyle would give the job to anyone besides the person who he thinks is the best for the job. I doubt that if they were going to just give it to Lance they would say Purdy is QB1 and Lance has to compete for QB2. He would of just said "it was lances job last year and he won't lose it to injury" or something like that. Or they wouldn't of said anything.

i think a lot of HC do that because their job is on the line if they player doesn't pan out, but we aren't in that spot. After this upcoming draft, everything we traded away is over and we go back to having a bunch of picks.

So, if we move forward and win with Purdy - I don't think anyone will care about those draft picks.

Doubt No Mo' !!

do you not remember how Trey got the starting job last year??

Can you tell me that he earned it, or better yet, can you tell me what made our HC thinks that Trey was best for the job when he's done none?

Brock Purdy isn't Jimmy Garoppolo. That's your difference right there. Jimmy has never—NEVER—played as well as Brock did last year over eoght games. Never. So taking the risk with Trey over Jimmy is less of a leap than taking the risk with Trey over Purdy.

In short, the situations are not comparable because Jimmy is fit only to hold Purdy's substantial jock.

Visualization and film study are also key routes to improvement as Purdy awaits physical clearance. He reflects on the strides he made as a rapidly rising rookie, gaining confidence in calling the base plays, formations and motions that constitute head coach Kyle Shanahan's offensive system. Purdy needed to adjust quickly from shotgun-based snaps in college to working under center as a pro.

"You're doing 7-step play-action drops, and you have to get your eyes back around the field and see a safety driving a deep over," Purdy said. "Kyle's been running this offense forever now. He's had all these coaches go other places around the NFL, but it's his offense. So to be able to learn from him and run those kind of concepts at first was difficult.

"Over a while, with all the preparation, it's finally starting to make sense. And I'm excited to just build off that."

He appreciated recent endorsements from 49ers brass including general manager John Lynch, who said Purdy "earned the right" to start, or at least defend his starter role once healthy. But until more clarity comes on his return, Purdy emphasizes "there's a lot of work to be done" across the team and "I don't want to make it more than what it is."

I agree, where jimmy had limitations - specifically attempting/completing long balls and 2nd chance plays (creating time and hitting a later read or someone that gets open). Jimmy was more of a statue back there after his ACL injury.

i don't consider it the same risk. I also love that Purdy will be at all the off season program meetings and working on the mental side of the game and the mechanics that he is able to - like footwork etc. I'm so damn excited
Glad to hear Purdy is on track and is showing up for off season programs and not ghosting his team mates.......

What are you talking about? It's widely confirmed that Jimmy was hard to get ahold of during the off season. Whether it was the coaches or players. Idk if he "ghosted" him but it's a fact. Lol players have talked about it and coaches.

i like jimmy but apparently it frustrated coaches. Idk if it ever bothered his teammates, but he definitely would go dark for long periods during the off season.
