Try to look at it from another angle. The way I see it is this 2021 squad was never good from the get-go. Likewise, I am very proud of what they managed to achieve as they basically used "heart" to carry them to this point. But, we were never good or good enough, it wasn't as if this team was like the 2019 squad killing it right from the start. In the end, "heart" can only carry you so far.

The Rams have a better roster than us and they are slowly peaking. Simply put, if our roster doesn't improve, it is quite possible they might have turned the tide and start owning the 9ers going forward from this point on. I hope Lance won't bust. But, Lance alone won't get us over the hump. Truth be told, may be we need to look into the Rams' "win now" model. There might be something to it. In fact, we really might have to since we have no 1st round picks for the next 2 years. So, if we don't sign quality free agents, we might not be able to compete or compete at the highest level going forward.

I am already thinking ahead, what if Lance is still not ready come next season? Or if he ends up being a semi-bust? Initially, I was thinking about Tommy, but he has retired. Is definitely something to think about.

tell that to Vikings, Browns, Bills, Cardinals, Bengals, Falcons, Chargers and Lions fans. some of those teams have never even been to the Super Bowl

I'm talking about the 49ers not any of those other garbage franchises

lol yeah. I don't even care about the draft either. Most likely they'll just draft another bust Guard/Center in the 2nd round, then bring back Compton in training camp

Yeah this game sucks, but at this point we should be used to it. Don't think any loss will feel as bad as the KC SB

My group was there too and we said the same thing. More red than blue in that stadium but sounded like a packed house. They definitely pumped noise in that place

Two things stood out to me.

1. The drive after the kittle td. The defense just let the rams drive down the field. That was a huge killer. And it all started with the taunting penalty.

2. The next drive Jimmy converts some clutch 3rd downs amd we get to the 50. Shanahan calls 3 straight runs and we get to the 42 after juice gets pancaked. Mcvay challenges the fumble and it stands. No timeouts
Shanahan f**king punts instead of going for it. The defense had been getting shredded all day. The rs go down the field and tie it up.

Game was over at that point. There was no running game and the defense sucked. Our identity was stripped.

These are very good points and I completely agree.

We do need some quality free agent signings now that we'll have some cap relief when Jimmy leaves. These windows of opportunity don't last long and the "win now" mode might be the only way to go as you said. We really need to fix our secondary and with all the heat Ryans took at the beginning of the year, he really turned things around. If we lose him then we're in a bigger hole. I think we were a lot better than the record reflects, we just didn't have the luck in those close games we lost.

I'm still shell shocked because victory was staring us in the face. It would've been a perfect ending to a roller coaster season (I do believe we would've taken Cinci).

Exactly. It's not a tough ask. We have a generational talent at WR in Deebo, a pretty good talent in Aiyuk, potentially something special in Jennings, arguably the best TE in Kittle, a decent O-line, a RB with a very bright future along with a beast in Mostert when healthy….we should be averaging 28 PPG. I love Jimmy he's a good dude but he's the common denominator when it comes to our lack of success.
