If Treys not ready then we wasted alot of draft capital on a "project".

Some people have been saying that for quite some time...

I'll be shocked if Trey's not ready to take the reins next season. Sure, there will be bumps, but that'll be disappointing for a guy who was touted to have a very great capacity to learn, and seems like the type of high character-guy to work very hard to succeed.

People may say it will also help with extensions for others and of course having more money helps with that, the more money we have the more people we can resign.
And honestly what difference does it make? Jimmy is gone after this year, bank on it.

If they win the SB with him they may be reluctant to make a change.

That's been my whole argument, I don't think it will matter. He's out, no matter what. I think him and the front office are well aware and they will work together to find a decent team for him. Trey is the starter next year.

If we win the SB i wouldnt be so sure

I honestly don't think it matters, they didn't invest all those picks in Trey for him not to start. If anything they hope that if Jimmy wins it will increase his trade value.

They also did not necessarily invest all those trades expecting a starter in year 1 or even year 2, Jed said that. I do hope Trey starts, but to say that it is somehow "impossible" that Jimmy is the starting QB next year as many members are saying all around this forum is factually incorrect as the OP has shown.

Ok let's put a bet on it (seriously), let's see what happens. This is just really a no-brainer to me based on Jimmy's play (fine but not exceptional) and what they gave up to get Trey. Also I would like to say I don't think it's impossible BUT he would have to take a huge paycut to stay. I don't think they want to keep paying him that top shelf money.

Ok, I'll bet if the Niners win the superbowl, Jimmy G will be the QB in 2022

Sounds good, let's remember it.

What's the bet, bragging rights? How about something with some teeth, like $50 to the other person's favorite charity? Terms:
1. Niners must win Superbowl
2. Jimmy G begins 2022 as starter, does not need to end season as starter

3. Jimmy G does not take a paycut of any kind

Nope. Not agreeing to that

Ok I will give you 1 and 2 but only for $25.

Sure. It's a bet. I guess I should put at least $25 on the Niners winning the Superbowl

Expectations would be repeat, lots of pressure.

I put that Vegas bet down at the beginning of the year, Niners win and $500 so Well $475 if I come out the wrong side of this one.

I would raise to $100 if you put in the caveat about Jimmy not taking a paycut.
You may have a point with Bosa's contract with the 5th year option but as far as Deebo. No way you want to let his contract expire before you try to resign him. Money talks and b******t walks. Unless of course Deebo is a restricted free agent at the start of 2023 then that does change things.

Of course they wouldn't let Deebo's contract expire.

They're going to extend him before next season starts, but it can be just that--an EXTENSION where most if not all of the new money hits in 2023.

By the time Bosa will have to be resigned, Jimmy, Ford, Mcglinchey, and Wards contract will be gone, idk the exact numbers but them either resigning for cheaper or gone and a rookie steps up and in will allow Deebo and Bosa to get paid. Didn't include Trent bc I just feel like he's going to play as long as truly wants and deserve every penny we give. As for Deebo, get him done this off-season and have Paraag work his magic on the deal.

in 2 years the top 6 highest paid should be Bosa, Trent, Warner, Deebo, Kittle, Lance.

I'm not saying that I think that Trey is not going to be ready by next year, but even if he weren't as long as he pans out eventually I don't think you can call it a waste.
