We're 2-3 and our losses have been winnable games. We played well today against a 5-0 team. If this team can any sort of offensive consistency we have a chance be fighting for a WC spot.
Then Jeff Wilson better come back and hit the ground running.

Worst coach somehow managed the best record in the league.

I see a lot of talk on here about lance and how he played but, no mention of how mcglinchy is completely worthless on the right side of the line... Dude can't block anything and when he does, it's because he's holding... The pass protection today was absolute garbage.

He was on the hot seat coming into the season. Shoulda lost to the Vikings, could have lost today.

Oh we saw it, and it's been mentioned.

This game was there for the taking.
Defense did a very good job on Murray & their O while also creating a key TO later in the game.
Offense didn't capitalize on the TO and the failed 4th Down conversions really hurt (especially early on their goal line & not scoring).
Thought Lance did well for the most part, especially in his first start & being so young with limited college experience. Didn't like him getting hit like he did - that won't be sustainable if he wants to avoid injury/concussions. But liked what I saw overall along with his competitiveness.
Thought Shanahan's playcalling was very suspect - hope it improves going forward for Lance's sake and this offense.

He's coaching out of his mind right now but he's still the same guy who got fired from TTech before the Cards gave him the job. It helps to have a Front office that has helped him with experienced hires and loading his team with a juggernaut of talent without giving up too many assets. Hopkins for a 2nd was the biggest theft in the NFL in the last 3 years.

He's a good HC, but his biggest weakness is that he has a very specific scheme that needs to be in sync. So when guys are constantly in and out of the lineup sue to injuries, that timing is off, and the offense cannot be sustained.
Now, Kyle's approach was a great way to win in the NFL in the 80s-00s. But the last 10 years of the NFL it is archaic to expect rhythm/system offense. There are just too many injuries, too many free agency changes, and too little college prep for those types of offenses. The West coast offense based on timing and rhythm is as archaic as the RB centered offenses of the 60s and 70s. In the NFL of 2021 its all about having 3-4 great WR/TE/RB in the pass pattern, and a QB who can chuck it and/or run it, or even better, chuck it when running it.
Brady is the lone exception, because he's essentially his own HC/OC.
Beg to differ. Most HC cannot overcome rotating personnel.
He'll win a SB or two as HC eventually. Just a matter if it is with SF or another team. Probably the latter because the 49er fan base can't tolerate any setbacks. "SB or bust" is a great attitude to have.... when the team is winning SBs. This franchise hasn't won a SB in 27 years. Time to put SB or bust in the trash heap. Gotta look at long term, and that means taking the lumps with a HC who is going through struggles when he's shown he CAN win in the past. Gotta give him time to see if he can adjust his offense to current NFL and not be so reliant on a run game that can't keep RBs on the field. Time to see if KS will dig into his vertical passing game with Lance over time as Lance learns the playbook.

Mitchell had 43 yards on 9 carries. That's almost 5 yards a carry and yet he rarely touched the ball in the 2nd half.

I figure this team can handle two, maybe three more losses before we are out of the running for a playoff spot.
