Kittle, by a wide margin. Haven't seen a TE like Kittle on the 49ers since Davis in a handful of games (and pre Chancellor hit). Bowman, Willis, Derek Smith
all are in my fairly recent memory.

They are both elite but if you grade their performances, I would say Kittle barely edges him out in terms of grading. After all he did get the highest grade ever for a tight end. He also has been shown beating Stephane Gilmore, you know the MVP from two years ago and he's a freaking cb. Kittle can beat corners there are elite. Warner can beat some elite players as well but George is just the f**king man.
I'm so happy we have both and will have both for a long long time. Kudos to our front office for drafting two players in the third and fifth round that are the top of their positions. That's phenomenal drafting whether people want to admit it or not

Fred is the 2nd most valuable Fred the Niners have ever had.
George is the 2nd most valuable George the Niners have ever had.
Coincidence?
Can't choose.

Warner. He's a Hall of Famer. Kittle will get there though.

Kittle is a matchup nightmare, Warner is a new age Patrick Willis but I dont see him out there thumping people like Willis did. his coverage is excellent and hes a great leader on defense. I would take Kittle personally but theyre both probably our two most important players on either side of the ball. Kittle blocking somewhere down field is the reason for any big play in recent memory if he isnt the receiver and he can handle DEs and OLBs all day long. Kittle is the man

They don't really have a good option at LB if they lose Warner It would leave a huge hole in the middle. If they lose Kittle (which they have occasionally) they have better backups at TE than at LB. They could also change the offense a little and utilize the WR more or go more to the running game. You lose your best LB and your at the other team's mercy.
So my answer would be Warner. Not because he's better. It's just that the team is thinner at that spot.
Good post.

Teams dont value off the ball linebackers and it shows in the draft. The NFL is putting more and more emphasis on the tight end so i'm going to go with Kittle on this one.
Take Kittle away from the offense and it sucks. Take Warner away from the defense it could still function ok as long as the pass rush and the secondary do their job.

I guess everyone is missing the fact that George BRITTLE is always HURT.
Always has something wrong. Only started all 16 games 1 time in 4 years.
I'm not a GK85 hater, he is actually one of my fav 49res to watch because his joy for the game is contagious but his reckless abandonment for his knees and lower body leave him open for leg injuries all the time.
I voted for Freddie, without him the defense falls apart. without Kittle (and we've had to do it a lot, especially lately) we have other playmakers.

But kittle does more for the offense than Warner does on the defense.

Everybody chill. This is a great problem to have, kind of like Montana vs. Young. Both are ridiculously good draft steals.

Warner because he can stay on the field. Kittle seem to be getting injured too often.

Warner is more important in my opinion. If Warner goes down I think the defense would fall off drastically. If Kittle goes down, I believe we would convince Reed to come out of retirement and with Deebo, Aiyuk, Juszczyk, Mostert, Sermon, and Dwelley the offense would still be effective.
Tough call overall but I say Warner
